Liz Gomez English 101 Mr. Tafarella 3/9/11 On Monday of last week I woke up with the biggest headache ever and believe me I was not ready to go to class but I really didn’t want to miss the video that Mr. Tafarella was going to show us, so I got up, got ready and decided I had nothing to lose and I went to class. Once at school we had a lot of trouble trying to get the video to work and finally there it was; the most interesting subject I could have ever come across “Jonestown” To tell you the truth at first I was a little bit confused because I had never heard of this story, but once the documentary got going I was not able to take my eyes off of it. After the documentary ended I realized I wanted to know even more. I mean, I couldn’t
My son Kaleb was born May 24 2008, and from that moment on I wanted to give him everything he deserves. I tried to go back to college right after my son was born, but I had no idea what I wanted to do for my future and taking care of Kaleb wasn't cheap. I was constantly working to pay for the expenses of Kaleb, while paying for the rest of the expenses I had. Finally four years later, I made the best decision I could for my family and that was going back to school. One of the many reasons why I came back was that I did not was to continue being in a factory the rest of my life.
Discrimination Laws in Pennsylvania Last year, after learning about the discrimination and disconnect about Chick-a-Fila, I was curious to learn more about the discrimination laws in Pennsylvania and in Allegheny County. Because of all the misunderstanding around the situation, the communities around Allegheny County and the United States were all in an uproar. This is when I decided that I wanted to create a career in human resources and helping people. So, this past May I enrolled back into college to pursue my degree. In my research, I’ve learned that Allegheny County along with a handful of other counties in the state of Pennsylvania prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Did the creator of the universe create the heavens, seas, humans, and the sun in six days? When I was younger, these stories weren’t just stories but factual history to me. But I went through a phase of total disbelief and rejection of anything that is Catholic. One time, my mom urged me to go with her to a Catholic seminar where this special group of Catholic nuns and priest only visit San Jose once in a while. It wasn’t mass but I vaguely remember it was more of a long, intense session of prayer.
JROTC helps me motivate young people to be better citizens. After two months in the class i was afraid to speak to anyone, but as these days went by i am a completely different person and my relationship with my family and friends changed. ENG 103-04 Essay September 11, 2012 I wasn’t always motivated to excel in my school work. Years back I didn’t care about school or anything I was hanging with the wrong crowd and playing the part as being a bad child. My mother I always wanted me to change and get focused about life but I was already too far gone. One day I stepped into my class and my whole demeanor changed. I met a woman named Mrs. Renee Troupe Clear.
Journal This week in Acting for non-majors was the week I had to perform my monologue for the second time in front of the entire class. I had prepared for the past four weeks so I wouldn’t have stage fright, and up until the point of standing in front of the class I was confident. I had prepared myself for the worst of people laughing or myself making a complete fool out of myself. The nervousness was uncontrollable when Denise didn’t understand how my monologue started. I had built up my confidence to just recite my piece but when I had to alter it threw me off a little.
Debbie Hickenbotham Business 300 Discussion Board #1 Our discussion board assignment this week required us to find examples or images of poor grammar examples we sometime see in advertising. One image that really caught my attention was this advertisement for school. Instead of the sign reading “Enrole Now NIGHT CLASSES”, it should read “Enroll Now NIGHT CLASSES.” (“Funny Little Frog, “2010). Potential students may be reluctant to enroll in their program because such a simple misspelling may make the school look unqualified. The quality of the program may be questioned.
Response Paper #2 It is intriguing how when we look at something or someone, we immediately form a good or bad opinion about that person or thing. As humans, this is natural but too many times the perception we have of someone ends up being wrong. I remember my first year here at this university, I took a Multiculturalism class with Professor Covert and the first day of class he said, “What comes to your mind when you look at me?” I never thought such words would come out of my professor’s mouth and many students thought that it was a joke, but to play along with Professor Covert, we participated in the activity. “Hippie,” “homeless,” “weird/different” and “poor” were some of the words that came out of my classmates’ mouths. At first I was
I decided from that day on, I would keep a journal of my life including the comments people were sure to make about my new appearance. I was not prepared for the way my life changed. I had been just a so-so guy at school, but now I was like famous or something. Girls wanted to help me with my math because they thought I had brain damage with such a flat head actually I did not suffer any ill effects like that. It was just the Dr. listening “hall of fame” on his iPod and the knife slipped and there you have the flat head.
