‘Home is more than a place’ By definition a house is a building built for habitation where as a home is a place built up over time. But a home is something even more special than that. A home is a place, where you feel comfortable, sheltered, and safe. A place you feel accepted, belonging and nostalgic. Yes a house and a home are both physical spaces, but home is the people that share that place with you and the experiences, memories and rituals you have in that space. A home is a place that one love's to live in, but a house one just lives in. A house belongs to you, but you belong to a home. The idea that home means being with one’s family in their home is clearly depicted in the film “Oranges and Sunshine”. The child migrants were removed not only from their home country but their families. Whilst the British children are placed in a “home” that gave food and shelter they longed for what they perceived as their true sense of home which is to be with their families. To most home is a place of familiarity and comfort. What makes a space a home is the objects, the smells and the sounds. A place is a home when you can smell it, hear it and feel it when you step inside. The idea of home can also be felt strongly through memories that are always with us of a past home and of our childhood experiences. Home and the people in it are what mould us into the people we are today and we are the people we spend the rest of our lives with, so home is always with us. A home is far more than a simple four walled structure. A home is built with a family, where as a house has no intentions of family life. Your parents and siblings are the people you spend majority of your life with and most of it takes place in your family home. There is your father, strong and wise, off to work each day so you can afford your lifestyle. Your loving mother, intelligent and fair, cooking,
