Many people don’t come out healed; they come out different. No one wants to suffer. But we all do at some time. When I read the article “what suffering does” by David Brooks, made me understand that even though people always look for happiness, but feel formed through suffering. We suffer, and people suffer around us, in so many different ways.
Sweat bath were very popular among the Aztecs as it was said to cure various illnesses. Sweat baths were also very important in the birthing process of Aztecan women. Sometimes, people believed that certain illnesses were related with the supernatural. If this occurred, a shaman would attempt a cure that included medicinal herbs but also included ritual procedure [8]. The Aztecs, just like us, were obsessed with keeping track of time.
This article is about the rebirth of acceptance to the Native American traditions and interest in their healing techniques. It has a list of herbs that were used for all sorts of health related issues. Some of these were as simple as a cough for a child; others are to help a deep open gash that in our world now needs stitches. If he did prove to be as old as was thought than the site would be one of the most unique ever found; not only was it remarkably well preserved, yielding amazing artifacts like clothing, wooden bow and arrows, and an intact axe, but it also shows an individual exactly how he lived and died, unlike most human remains which are found in burial sites with specific grave goods.
Through education about the disease, one can become more attuned to the clinical manifestations this disease presents. I know that as a nurse, I will see patients with many different worldviews and I will be open to them and work with them to help them spiritually. Religion and spirituality can be huge in treating patents by using meditation and prayer in healing (Krietzer et al, 2012).
