Cooking was one considered a household chore done by women while the man was working in the field or his day to day job. Cooking has devolopedd over the years and has became a wonder of the world it is highly demanded and becoming a huge supplier of jobs to American people. The cooking industry took off in Boston, Massachusses in 1800 when the first cooking school was started it was named the “Boston Cooking School”. This school was a major contributor in the inspiration of culinary professionals everywhere. More and more schools started popping up, now there are about 21,000 universitys that teach culinary arts programs. Another huge contributor to early culinary arts was “fannie merritt Farmer's book on American recipes and culinary arts” which was published in 1896. This was the first official cookbook in America and was highly demanded it quickly became an everyday household item in American households. The author Farmer was a student at “Boston Cooking School”. This original now outdated cookbook is still used as a major reference in professional culinary facilities. Culinary arts is becoming more and more popular every year. The more the world demands new foods, the longer culinary professionals will be demanded. Culinary arts is a widely chosin career for highschool seniors and college freshman. There are two different degrees when starting off in a culinary field an associates degree in “culinary arts” and a bachelors degree in “culinary arts management” the associates is a two year degree and the bachelors degree is a four year degree. The bachelors degree opens a whole lot more oppurtunities mostly on the business side. When exiting college and starting a career with a bachelors degree one can expect to earn about forty eight thousand dollars a yearwith about 6-7 years of experience you can earn about seventy thousand dollars a year with more
