You could also have time to finish your homework if you couldn’t the night before. This year on Wednesday, October 12 we took our PSAT’s and the seniors didn’t have to be at school until 11:30 in the morning because they didn’t have to take them. Instead they had to take the SAT’s but I don’t know the exact dates they would take them. I expected not to see any seniors in my classes that I have seniors in. But I was shocked to see all of them actually show up.
A C average student has less work over the summer, if I was to become an AP student or honor student I will have more homework to complete for a grade to start of my new year. Also the teen to lose out on their summer, because there stressing about work that can, and should be reduced so that is not allot of pressure for the student and the teacher. Some students are just too lazy to complete the summer homework. I know that ther some student that have chosen a different road in life that just so happens to cause them to be lazy or just do not want to be in school at all. I know that there that kid that just like,I'm not doing my summer homework, summers for fun not for work. Not all students can be committed to completing summer homework.
Studies have shown that homework for elementary – high school should not have homework but work on some special project or reading at home after school for only a satin amount of time depending on what grade the student is in like forty minutes to two hours a day after school. Studies also show that homework can be more harmful then help full to students as they grow up. Studies show that students going to school all morning and afternoon doing work then coming home to do even more work will make them very over worked and make them lazy and they would not wont
They're not understanding why it is so important to go to school. Schools lose a lot of money due to students cutting class. They're also missing lectures causing them to get fail classes. Schools should have harsher consequences, such as two hours of Saturday school every unexcused absence. Therefore, the students can make up the work they missed.
One long summer break is definitely needed. Having shorter breaks throughout the year would mean less involvement in school organized activities. At least half of the students in our school are involved in some sort of these activities that only take place on school days. At our school the field hockey and soccer team start at the end of summer, but with three shorter breaks you would be completely forgetting about those activities during break. Some of these activities are sports, instrumental lessons, and the after school program.
A few teachers spoke on having more safety measuring during school and after school. Some parent asked about having longer after school programs for the care of their kids do to their hours of work. They needed somewhere for their kids to go after school until they get off work that was affordable . I was really more concerned with why they don’t have more college pre programs for the kids and why was it taking so long for them to hire an coach for the football
The other side claims that year round school is essential for some, since student often forget a lot during the summer break. Nonetheless, Year round school is definitely not the answer, because it creates family conflict, it creates social problem, and it takes away job opportunities for students during the summer. Year round schooling has been reported to create family conflict due to the change in schedule. The reason why this has become a controversy for families, because children may not be on the same schedule as their sibling. One sibling might be enjoying his or her two month break while the other has to sit in class working.
For a family of four that level is $22,000 annually or less. The thing, is a lot of people have to live way under that level because the jobs that they can get do not pay much at all. Many high school students are dropping out of school to get restaurant jobs to help their families out. Also, people who want to go back to school to better their lives can’t because the cost is too much and there is not enough aid to pay for college. Because of the recession many Americans are forced to leave their houses and move in with family.
Because of this, there are many first and last days of school. All those transitions disrupt the learning process, and decrease the amount of days that students are actually learning. Also, there is no evidence to suggest that students of year round systems have higher test scores. School boards who have switched to a year-round model have not reported any significant increase in grades or graduation rates. Due to this, many schools that change to year-round schedules end up switching back.
Would you rather have a time to do work because you have practice after school or have PE class? Well today there are many students’ grades suffering because they have no time after school to do their homework, which is a good reason for those students to replace their PE class with a study hall to do their homework. So student athletes should not have to do PE because they need time to do their homework, they can get injured in PE class and not be able to play and you already get enough exercise from sports. First of all, student athletes need extra time to do their homework because of having to leave early for games, getting home late from games and having at least two or more hours of homework. So giving them extra time to do their homework in school would increase the advantages of having their homework done.
