This can end up causing them to pick on and mistreat the less popular people of their school. Jocks are looked upon as heroes to some, and enemies to other. Once again, it just depends on what category one happens to be in while in high school. Preps are very similar to jocks, only without all the sweat. In most cases, preps are the students of the school who only wear high dollar clothing, fix their hair just perfect every day, and prance around thinking they are better then the rest of the student body.
This group is usually your more attractive, stylish, snobbish group. This group normally participates and excels in sports and clubs within high school, thinking that academics are not an important aspect of high school expecting to attend college on an athletic scholarship with colleges passing them through because of excelling in sports. The nerdy, geek group of kids are typically made up of the more intelligent, reading type of individuals who seek solace from within their self. This group is the one that most of your jocks and cheerleaders run to when they are in need of tutoring or a paper written. Your popular group otherwise has no association with them.
In the book all off his class peers disliked him for no apparent reason, they thought just because he acted a bit weird they decided not to talk to him or pay attention to him. Robert did not care about school, he did not listen in class and his grades were not very good, he even said he does not care about school. So as you can see Robert Billings was one of those kids who did not care very much
When these athletes’ skills are extraordinary and are able to impress the scout, they are many times given full scholarships to the college with the condition that they play for the school’s team. The amount of money that some of these players are offered is absolutely ridiculous, when the player is really good, with starter skills, he or she is usually given a scholarship big enough to pay off school expenses, living expenses and leisure expenses. This scholarship ordeal is not just something a few schools do, but something all of them do. They have had their school paid for because they can play a game well. Many times, athletes get more scholarships than people who excel academically do.
Although Cady began to realize she was no longer the same person, she didn’t mind so much, as her new persona came with power, status and respect. Being part of the plastics was “high school royalty”. The plastics were a clique, an exclusive group of people who share interests, views, purposes, patterns of behavior, or ethnicity. There were many different examples of cliques portrayed in the film; there were sport kids, nerdy kids, art freaks, Asians, and many others worth noting. But the defining high school clique was the plastics.
This quote shows that the bullies are more concentrated on bullying their victims rather than their school work. This quote also shows that bullies are not very concentrated in school and will probably fail in school and not get a good career. Another example that shows that students are beginning not to care about school is, “Many of the victims are disengaged in school” (Wolpert 1). This evidence is important because the victims are scared of bullies and are really not concentrating in school like before they began to be bullied. Multiple victims who are hurt from being bullied are starting to fail in school.
They will be able to understand that not everyone fits in and is ‘popular’ at school, and how some are bullied because of it. But many of the concepts in ‘Cinnamon Rain’ will be foreign to the students, as they aren’t old enough, or have never been in that
We've all been wanting to be friends with those couple of cool kids to feel fully accepted and that you actually matter. Not being able to be friends with those groups is kind of lame. Even though it is said that high school groups get along, they don't because people don't know how to deal with others differences, focus too much on them selves, and don't care to go out of their way to be nice. Its true people don't know how to deal with others differences. In an article Clay Tucker says " We all have difficult people we need to deal with.
But is this right, should parents even, principals just blow bullying off like that? Maybe we've seen a bigger kid shoving a smaller kid around, or a girl with less money shunned because her clothes aren't nice enough or she doesn't live in the right neighborhood. Both situations involve bullying, and it's a serious problem in elementary and middle schools nationwide. Too often, we don't take bullying seriously. Young people who are bullied are more likely to skip school or completely drop out.
