Healthy vs. Happy I chose the topic of Health vs. Happy because eating healthy is something that is important for the human body. I will share a story about a journey that I recently took. What the outcome was in the end. Also, how balancing the diet with exercise are both equally important to ensure a stable healthy life and what happy foods are and where they will lead you. In today’s fast paced world, people tend to ignore the nutritional values in the food they consume. This is a story about how I was on a path of destruction. I would go to the grocery store and buy the easiest thing to prepare in the least amount of time. Since leaving home, and being on my own for the last 9 years this was my normal routine until life caught up with me. It was around two years ago my doctor had started monitoring my BP. It would increase and decrease with every visit. A year ago, I was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure (HBP) at the age of 31. After my doctor diagnosed me I was in denial. I asked him what could I do to reverse this condition and he said “it was hereditary and more than likely I would be on medications the rest of my life”. I couldn’t take that for an answer. So, I began a journey to healing the natural way while continuing to take my medications. My research concluded that I was deficient in nutrients which are critical in assisting the body to repair itself. In my mind, I thought that if I buy foods from the grocery store it has to be good for me but, that wasn’t the case. I immediately began to modify my diet along with monitoring by BP from home. I started to focus on eating raw foods because I wanted to gain the full amount of micronutrients from unprocessed and uncooked foods.
