A Healthy Lifestyle As a first year college student, I have learned that a healthy lifestyle is extremely important in school. Without a healthy lifestyle, you’re putting at risk your education. When you are in college, your education is the most important factor. Exercising, eating healthy, and getting enough sleep is crucial to a great education. First, we will take a look at how exercise is an important part of being healthy. Next, we will focus on eating a healthy breakfast and why it is important. Finally, we will see how getting the right amount of sleep helps your education too. First, we should focus a little bit on exercise. I know from experience that finding time in your busy schedule to exercise is always tough, but it is important to find time to exercise because it helps keep you healthy. Exercising benefits every part of the body, including the mind. Exercising causes the body to produce endorphins, chemicals that can help a person to feel more peaceful and happy, and less stressed out. It can also help some people sleep better, or help some people who have mild depression and low self-esteem. Plus, exercise can give people a real sense of accomplishment and pride. Exercise can help all of these symptoms that people can have, especially students in college. Eating healthy is another important factor in living a healthy lifestyle. As with exercising, time is a factor with eating a healthy breakfast. Many people do not find enough time in the morning to eat a balanced breakfast. I cannot stress enough how important it is to eat a healthy breakfast every day. Breakfast, as the word implies, means breaking a fast. Your metabolic rate drops overnight because of fasting. So when you skip this morning meal, and eat a hearty lunch, the majority of the calories taken in are stored as fat since your metabolism cannot cope with the sudden load of calories.
