g Task 1.1 List the main food groups There are five main food groups and they are as follows: * Grains, this includes pasta, rice, potatoes, cereals and bread * Fruits and vegetables * Fats * Milk and dairy products this includes things like cheese and yogurt * Meat and beans this includes things like, fish and eggs 1.2 State what is meant by balance diet A balance diet is about eating the required amount of a wide variety of essential foods that has the right proportion, for example having a wide variety of foods and drinks from the food groups which are Grains, this includes pasta, rice, potatoes and bread, Fruits and vegetables, Fats and Milk and dairy products this includes things like cheese and yogurt and Meat and beans this includes things like, fish and eggs. A balance diet is really important in order to maintain a healthy weight and to balance the essentials requirements in order to have a healthy lifestyle. For a healthy lifestyle it should include good nutrients which the body needs to function and be healthy. 1.3 State the effects of a balanced diet on health The effects of a balanced diet on health is that it combines acceptable vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, proteins, fats and calories for each individual’s needs. The effects that a balanced diet has on health are that it maintains the individual’s entire body. When the individual’s balanced diet is controlled then they are able to be attentive because their brain tissue works more and process information effectively, nervous system function, bone and muscular systems, and growth and development are at best levels. If the individual is at a healthy weight, then they can take part in a healthy weight, they also can participate in activities for example sports.
