Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan Mary J House University of Phoenix Sci 241 September 5, 2012 Eating right and getting the proper amount of physical activity each day can be a lot harder to do than it seems. It is though entirely possible to eat right and have a good exercise regimen. It just takes having the tools and the willpower to put it into action and stick to it. I know that to be healthy I need to change the way I eat and get more exercise, and I now have the knowledge to do so. I now just need to muster up the courage and willpower to make some healthy changes to my diet and exercise routines.
This causes a problem because fruits and vegetables do not stay ripe forever. Therefore many families will buy foods that are able to be froze or have a longer shelf life. These foods are normally processed or unhealthy. Another issue for families that live in a food desert is the money it takes to travel to a grocery store. Driving 45 miles to a store equals a total of 90 miles.
Life in the modern world is full of stress and struggles that are ready to let you down anytime. People are in a hurry, eat fast, work harder and forget how to take care of their health because they are too busy to think of how to eat in a right way. They keep ruining their health by fulfilling their stomach as much as they can. So, many nutritionists advise that people should change this bad eating habit and do simple things, such as eat less and slowly. In the book “Food Rules”, Michael Pollan also lists “Eat Slowly” and “Eat Less” as recommendation for eaters.
For instance, losing energy, feeling sick, might faint. People usually lie to their body every day by eating stuff that they are not supposed to do is because they do not know what they are really eating. Some people do not really care what they are eating as long it’s delicious, they would accept it. As matter fact, people worry more about their daily task than eating appropriately. In his article,” In defense of food “: Michael Pollen established “what is food” and why do American’s eat nonfood in such large quantities?” Definitely, I’m agree about food labels do provide enough information for consumers to make an informed choice about what to feed their bodies.
Many schools offer a la carte items in addition to the meal that is provided each day. The problem is that the National School Lunch Program does not regulate these items. If a child chooses high-calorie additions to his or her meal, his intake is going to be much higher than it should be for lunch, which over time will result in weight gain and obesity. Children who are overweight and obese due to a high-fat diet are at an increased risk of developing other health conditions, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression and high cholesterol. According to a Toronto Star survey, children who get to choose their food at lunch ate more fat and calories than those who were only offered one meal choice.
With their busy working lives, people may not notice that they are living with thirst. Thinking they will manage by drinking water and coffee throughout the day, they ignore the positive effects of having a well-hydrated body. A water deficiency can cause significant health problems. Don’t say I never think to drink water! Drinking enough water should be a habit for everyone.
Its suggested that older adults should not eat alone because eating with others increases the chances of eating healthier since one is more likely to have an enjoyable meal in a social atmosphere. However, the elderly can sometimes find it hard to do this expecially if they live alone. For those that live alone some tips would include setting up times to eat with family members, friends, or neighbors. One could also, involve themselves with senior meal programs and or adult day care centers. http://www.helpguide.org/life/senior_nutrition.htm Staying on Track In order for the elderly too successfully stay on track when it comes to reaching their recommended nutrition needs there are several ways.
Many are also unsure of how to change when the problem already exists. The strongest component of change is commitment; the individual must possess a strong desire to change what they cannot live with anymore (Zeratsky, 2011). Fortunately, as millions have discovered, it is never too late to change lifestyle habits and set out on a path to personal growth. In addition to commitments, change also requires individuals to be informed and educate themselves on everything that surrounds the issue of obesity, including why it has occurred, the emotional components that underlie its development, healthy and unhealthy meal choices, and exercise regiments (CDC, 2011). For example, rather than consuming unhealthy fast food in front of the television, individuals should perhaps sit down at the dinner table and eat as a family and teach their children that it is important to eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, and drink plenty of water to live a healthy lifestyle (CDC,

The health difficulties also become the importance of families seeking for help as Flood claims 30% of the households have at least one member in poor health, and 35% of adult recipients do not have health insurance, the decision of purchasing food with less nutritional values also causing diabetes and obesity to each household members and children, Flood says, “Poor nutrition is a leading cause of many of the major killers in our society, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes and many types of cancer.”, but it is also causing the food trade is getting more difficult when it focuses on one person’s health.
