Definition of Terms Definition of Terms The following information includes terminology, its definitions, and a brief description of its application to the health care field. Health care professionals are expected to know and understand the applicable terminology in the efforts to deliver the best quality services. Technology has evolved with time and the changes and demands of our health care system require computerized information systems to help organize, maintain, and exchange pertinent information. Ambulatory Medical Record Ambulatory Medical Record, (AMR), is electronically stored medical records that are not an overnight stay or in a hospital setting. This includes urgent care centers, physician offices, and services provided in

Communication and Opinion HCS/320 Communication and Opinion Today, my paper will be focusing on communication in the health care field or industry. Health care communication is needed no matter what your health care title is; whether it is surgeon, CEO of a hospital or health facility, physician, emergency room technician, medical assistant, or medical administrative assistant. Positive communication is needed to establish a well rounded relationship with coworkers, patients, families, and caregivers. Areas that will also be discussed will include how communication incorporate the basic elements of communication, basic elements of effective communication differ from the basic rules of health care communication, a provider encourage a
EMR contains the treatment and medical history of patients in one practice. Hence, EMR enables the clinician or doctor to easily identify patients who require preventative screening, and to track data over time. Markedly, EMR has made the patient record-keeping process simpler and convenient, comprehensive, and more accurate. Notably, doctors use specific software to allow them search and enter information electronically. In addition, the complete history of patients is made available by this system.
rvice RequestDetermination of Requirements The proposed solution for SR-pf-001 must “An evaluation for the development of a patient management system for the tracking of patient check-in, appointments and surgery.” It is the hopes of the organization that the proposed solution would fulfill the hopes of the organization which are, “We would like a more unified patient experience.” (Cite) The user needs of this request are clearly stated as a patient management system that can track a patient’s progress through the system, tracking patient activity, focusing primarily on appointment scheduling, check-ins and surgical experiences. With this understood, we began a needs assessment which would determine what the user requirements would be for a solution system. The primary goal of most systems is to supply whatever tools and information the user of that system will need. The problem presented by Patton-Fuller Community Hospital’s service request (SR-pf-001), stated that the hospital needed a way to track patient activity, to create a more unified patient experience through an enhanced information management system. To determine user needs we first gathered information through: User feedback generated through user interviews and questionnaires.
Information System Briefing This is a briefing of an information system. It will discuss the process for selecting and acquiring an information system, explain how the organizations goals drive the selection of the information system, and identify the roles each of the organizations’ stakeholders play in the selection and acquisition process. To computerize a health care organization is an important decision and a positive one with lasting benefits for the organization. Finding the best solution to a health care organizations unique information system needs to be simple. Some of the critical characteristics that a health care information system needs to consider when selecting and acquiring the information system are: • Security and confidentiality of information and health records should be ensured, • Process of standardization and
The Good View Cynthia Wardlow Marc Gewin MED 1140 Virginia College Abstract I am going to elaborate the different debates and/or discussions regarding Electronic Medical Coding: contrasting and comparing today’s recent technologies and the many ways it has transpired the medical field. The Good View Inputting information electronically can make health care less expensive and more efficient. It can also improve the quality of care towards patients by providing quick access to data and information. Quick and precise care can promote positive reviews and rapport for future patients. Medical records software now guaranteed to make labor at ease providing Doctors with a range of capability to capture and store data.
The health care system has developed significantly in the way it operates, and is constantly changing with time, to achieve the best outcomes for both the HCP and the patient. Conducting research is fundamental, as it provides nurses/paramedics with an increasingly sound evidence base, from which they are able to adapt to and better their practice (Burns & Grove, 2007). Research is a systematic enquiry, which utilises disciplined methods to be able to solve problems and answer questions (Polit & Beck, 2008). Evidence-based practice in health care relates to the process in which the practitioner, utilising the research, obtains empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of the range of options, and then determines the relevance
PFCH would greatly benefit from the use of an ERP system developed for hospitals, such as McKesson ERP Solutions. Systems such as these, which are developed specifically for medical professionals, enable hospital workers to easily access, update, and distribute patient information. ERP systems take the data from all other applications and manages that data, resulting in a streamlined, easy to understand overview, known oftentimes as the dashboard. More detailed information is just as easily accessed by the system and displayed in a series of charts and graphs, as well as other tools used to assist healthcare providers in the diagnoses and treatment of patients. While ERP’s are not necessarily well-designed to handle big data, it is my recommendation that both be used parallel to one another for the most benefit.
The role of expert system in nursing care and medicine Nursing care and medicine rely on expert systems to augment their professional ability to carry out their day to day patient care. In today’s patient care environment, many nurses are already technology junkies. Cipriano, 2011, p.289. states that "Technology is the greatest tool available to transform and innovate the delivery of nursing care". Solutions exist today that can eliminate repetitive and mundane tasks, accomplish regulatory work, provide more efficient use of space, improve the environment of care, provide access to resources, and thereby improve safety and efficiency.
