A family is defined as a household containing parents and their children, but what defines a happy family. In my experience I believe that families have formed differently over time from the 1950’s to the 21st century of today because they have gone through many changes as far as having that certain structure and today that structure has been tested. I believe families are happy, and they can have their own uniqueness of being happy in their special way because every family is different just like every individual is different which brings that into play. In my opinion a happy family can be defined as many things but I believe it is being able to trust one another, confine in each other, having the unity and support, and overall sharing the love and compassion for each individual. In comparison to the families viewed on television in the 1950’s to the 21st century of today, I can make the assumption that the traditional families have formed differently but they seem to be happy in their own distinctive ways. In the 1950’s, the television show “Leave it to Beaver,” viewed a family with a father, mother, and their two younger boys. It seemed that the family was living the perfect life because they had that traditional structure and nothing ever seemed wrong. During that show, the family had their differences at times, but there would be a lesson learned in the end. The boys knew that if they did something that would get them into trouble, they would be scared but realized that if they told the truth and confined in their parents everything would be ok. They revealed that no matter what can happen, they could always confine in each other for the right answers. In contrast, today there are television shows like “Full House,” with the story line of having the mother pass away and the father is left with the three young daughters. The father than has one of
