Happiness Can’t Be Bought

Happiness is a feeling humans find within them. An object shouldn’t be able to define what makes us happy. People nowadays have this notion that more time they invest at work and more money they earn, they will become happy and have a more fulfilling life. Spending more time doing activities that aren’t healthy, no matter how much more wealth it earns them will never make them happy. Increase in wealth does not mean increase in happiness. People believe that there is no limit to the amount of wealth a person can earn. A person might think that once he/she has earned a certain amount of wealth they will stop and live happily after. This is not the case; there is no limit to one’s expectations. Expectation’s change with time. One might think that “once I have a house I will slow down and enjoy life more” that doesn’t happen. There is always something new to acquire. This doesn’t mean that wealth leads to unhappy, unhealthy lifestyle always. Increase in a person’s wealth can lead them to buy many luxuries in life. It can buy a new outfit or a new car, which in turn can bring us short lived joy. For that short amount of time we will feel satisfied, but soon we will crave for more. Acquisition of wealth is only good to a certain point which is when the basic needs of an individual are met. But as a person’s wealth rises so does their expectation’s, which ends up requiring them to spend long hours at demanding and stressful jobs. We can never truly be satisfied. There is always a new car available on the market. Then the car we recently just bought seems useless to us. We will obsess and need the new car. So no amount of wealth can truly satisfy us. It will not satisfy our every need, money won’t even give you true happiness. That
