Quotes * “Your father tried to kill me in my sleep this night.” (p199) * “That spawn of Satan had laid me there.” (p199) * “Lucky for me, in his laziness and lust to be at my possessions” (p200) * “I had to scramble like a mole to get free.” (p200) Jane Martin Jane Martin was a young Puritan girl who minds Anna’s children when she is at work. Since Jane was a puritan she thought that “laughter and fun are ungodly”. Jane’s sternness often left Jamie craving for when his mother, Anna returned from work. Once the plague had taken Janes family and left her alone she rid herself of her puritan ways and began sleeping around making it hard for her to “keep her legs closed”. When Anna finds out about her sleaziness she takes Jane into her cottage and tends to her but to Anna’s dismay Jane ignored Anna’s comfort.
Angela Clark Shakespeare 2120-10 10/14/14 Journal 2 If you’re a parent of yours cooked a neighbor’s child in a pie or perhaps killed one of your siblings, you would at the very least consider this to be unacceptable, morally and legally wrong, abnormal, and concede that perhaps your family may be slightly dysfunctional. (Hook) In Shakespeare’s tragedy, Titus Andronicus, Titus Andronicus went off of his rocker and did both of those things, and more. Titus Andronicus, who recently refused the throne, becomes caught up in a never-ending tale of violent revenge that centers on parents and their children. Eventually, the violence committed against another’s child in retaliation for the violence committed against your own leads to your act of violence against your own children. (Discussion) While possibly more understandable by the standards in place in the age of Titus Andronicus, there are many acts of parenting in this play that are questionable by today’s standards.
In April, 2001 convicted-offender database got what was called a “cold-hit” because the perpetrator of the crime had been convicted of shooting at a residence that was occupied, which in North Carolina requires that the persons DNA be placed in the criminal database. He was brought in for questioning, served with a search warrant and a blood sample taken. The blood was analyzed and a match was made to the DNA of the perpetrator the authorities had named the “Night Stalker”. When he was confronted with the DNA results, he confessed to all of the murders. (Saferstein R. 2009) Reference Saferstein, R. (2009).
Kemper’s mother had sent him to live with his grandparents because she was tired of his eccentric behavior. Edmund Kemper, seventeen at the time, decided to shoot his grand mother “just to see how it felt” and eventually shot his grandfather when he returned home. He was sent to a mental asylum later for his actions but proved to his psychologist, through assistant work and studies, that he was deemed normal enough for release including expunging his juvenile records. However, he was still fascinated with killer which began his murder campaign around the age of 24. Edmund worked for the department of transportation in Santa Cruz and began to pick up hitchhikers, bring them to deserted areas, and brutally rape and kill them.
Beyond schooling he held very few jobs and preferred to claim unemployment benefits to provide means for an income. He was eventually committed to Boys Town, a juvenile detention facility, by his mother who found him difficult to manage. His father Ken, with whom he never shared a close relationship, left the household in 1981, leaving Travers as the head of the family. Finding it difficult to support the family, Travers relied on crime to provide food, stealing animals such as chickens and ducks from nearby households for food. The health of Travers' mother eventually deteriorated, and he and his siblings were sent to live with foster families whilst she was hospitalised.
But then tragedy struck when Michael and Gary’s mother met a man who then became their step father. Michael was constantly abused and molested by their step father. It all went downhill from there; Michael slowly started to drift in insanity. One cold dark night Michael snuck into his mother’s bedroom and placed a knife to his step father’s neck and cut off his head and right leg and disposed of the body under his bed. Then one morning Michaels’ mother was cleaning his room and she found the body of the step father and knowing what Michael has done she killed herself not being able to live with what he had done.

You and your hunting! We might’ve gone home- “(Golding 93). This quote is about how Jack goes off on his own, knowingly going against the rules for his short-term goal of hunting, and due to his actions, the group paid the ultimate price and missed their chance to be rescued. Due to the childish actions of the boy’s, and the inability to work with one another, it is impossible for them to establish a functional form of democracy. Rebellious kids are not only in works of fiction, they occur every day in modern society, according to Abby Ohlheiser’s article “Woman called ‘Mom of the Year’ After Beating a Young Man out of Baltimore Riots” posted in the Washington Post, she states that “I wish I had more parent’s take charge of their kids tonight”(n.pag.
They run around unbridled and do as they please so long as they do not bother their mother or father. I have seen children hit their parents and tell them “NO” or “I don’t have too!” I have seen on the news of teens running away because the parents wouldn’t let them do one thing or another, and then they turn up dead or raped. I am one of the few and fortunate one of these children that ran away from home and my parents found me in one piece. I know that I ran away because of plain disobedience. I wanted what I wanted and no one was going to tell me otherwise.
