Kayla Smith ENGL 011, section 8 Prof. Ball 9-19-2012 Effects Essay Growing Up in My Family If you could walk a mile in my shoes, would you? Honestly, I never had easy life growing up. I had to deal with stuff most kids wouldn’t imagine dealing with. There are three obscure things I had to deal with, my parents never get along, my mother partied a lot, and my father has been married three times. First, my parents never get along. Still, to this day they can’t even be in the same room together. I couldn’t ever talk to them, without the other parent making a scene. They would say I am taking sides of situations or something of that sort. Even, on holidays they argue on who gets the kids. Now, they mostly argue on paying my bills. Growing up, my mother liked to go out and party a lot when we all lived with grandma. My mother would go out after she got off work, and wouldn’t come home till odd hours of the night. Most of the time, my brother and I had to meet guys we would only see for a month. So, I never talked to any of them. I only had my grandmother to talk to, and to sit down and play with. My grandma and I were always together when I was younger. If it wasn’t for her, I honestly don’t think I’d be here today. My father has been married three times now. Growing up I’ve had to deal with him getting married to my ex step mom, which turned to meth after my dad divorced her. Even though he is happy with his new wife, he married two years ago; our family has not been the same at all. We used to all get along, and have each other’s back on anything. He adopted 2 of my sisters from his ex, and now that they divorced the girls don’t want anything to do with him. On holidays now, holidays are different nobody acts like we used to. Holidays used to be fun and had lot laughter all day. Now, it’s not the same without all of my sister’s and brother’s together. In
