Being a mobster there can be many events that place, good or bad. The life of a mobster is never simple. Greed, power, and betrayal play big roles in a mobster’s life. Greed over money is one of the most factors that make mobsters the way they are. Power and betrayal also play a big part. It can affect their entire lives and even families. In the movie, Casino, greed, power, and betrayal are seen throughout the movie. Robert DeNiro plays a big time mobster, named “Ace”, who is chosen to run a casino in Las Vegas because of his big time gambling skills. He begins making a lot of money for the casino, which also means more money for Ace and his bosses. The bosses decide to send Ace’s best friend, Nicky, to Las Vegas to watch over Ace and the casino. Nicky does all the dirty work and collects money from people who owe Ace. Ace falls in love with Ginger and asks her to marry him and have his baby. She agrees even though she can’t let go of her past. You first see greed and power in the movie when Ace catches two men cheating in a game of cards in his casino. Ace and his men take the first man to a back room and find a device on him that would signal the other man playing. He explains to the man that no one will cheat him out of money. He then has one of his men smash the hand he uses to play. They bring the man’s partner in to see what they have done to him. Ace explains again to the second man that cheating will not be tolerated. He gives them the option of leaving without anyone else getting hurt and no money or they can take the money they’ve won but they will have to be hurt. They obviously choose to leave with no money and no injuries. Even though Ace is making all this money in the casino, why did he do what he did? He wants to show the two men and others that no one can overpower him by cheating him out of money, which shows the greed he has over the money
