GRAMMAR IS IMPORTANT TO EVERYONE Grammar is the formulation and structuring of sentences in a particular language. It is very important that these sentences are always formulated in the correct manner. Perception plays an integral role in one’s ability to use correct grammar. There is a certain esteem that comes along with being able to write and speak properly. Being articulate is a skill that comes from knowing how to formulate sentences in the correct structure. Grammar is extremely important to me because it has the potential to open doors. It is sad when colleagues of mine have made it this far in their educational career and cant read and write at the collegiate level. I have always realized the value of being grammatically correct in all aspects of life; it can be as simple as writing a memo, or it can be as grand as writing a speech. Utilizing standard English is important and should not be undermined. Professor Houston finds the correct use of grammar highly important as well. She wants her students to be as successful as possible; being grammatically correct 100% of the time shows a correlation for success. Also, students can be perceived as a product of her work, and she would hate for a negative connotation to be associated with her as a professor. She makes it her duty to reiterate the importance of grammar in our every day lives. Some students have managed to slip through the cracks of the system, and it is an extremely sad case for each of these cases. Professor Houston knows that there is a power behind the correct use of grammar, so she tries to instill that concept in her students. Companies rely heavily on verbal and writing skills of potential and current employees. They know that being able to communicate effectively plays an important role in many areas of their business.
