Carla Wright My Return to School English Composition 1 Denya Cuiffo October 14, 2013 When we attend college as adults, we have expectations of what college will be or will not be. I decided to go back to school for quite a few reasons. The main factors for my returning to school includes my family and stability also plays big role in my returning to school. My reasons for going back to school is to gain communication skills, become a good role model for my children, if I decide to have any, gain independence and seek profitable employment that would be profitable for me. My father has always been my support system in my return to school.
I finally had self- confidence and the drive to make the most of my career as I neared completion of Banker’s College. Finally completing bankers college only started a drive for personal interest in a full fledged college degree and a chance at a new dream that I one day would like to complete, my own day care. I returned to an online college in a degree program for Early Childhood so I could prove to my family that I could graduate with honors and receive a diploma and I did with an Associate’s Degree the proudest moment of my life. I now have the chance to do many things with my college degree as well as returning to college and adding to it to
8 February 2014 Period 6 Giving Community 100 Hours for Your Diploma The District of Columbia was one of the first large school districts to include community service as a graduation requirement. The community service requirement aims to equip students with the necessary skills and abilities for careers as well as to motivate students to take an active role as leaders in their communities. Community service hours also appear on your high school transcripts, which leads to an upper hand in the college of your choice. College administrators love seeing youth take a role and help their communities; there are so many helpful advantages to this requirement. I for one agree with school boards requiring 100 hours of community service to graduate.
Voting for me would allow them to have a better secretary for the rest of the year and possibly a better representative next year. By voting for me to go to CASL, my classmates would benefit because we would have a better & experienced leader in their class. I have shown major commitment and dedication to both leadership and my class. Every single day (even Mondays), I am early and ready to learn how to become a better leader. I have also been at almost every single workday the freshman class has had for all required events.
I never thought that I would be the teenager in high school who had to grow up a lot faster than the rest of my friends and fellow classmates. I had many dreams and goals I wanted to accomplish while being a teenager, but when I found out that I was expecting a baby my junior year in high school my dreams and goals were put on pause. I graduated high school my junior year. It was exactly one month before I had my wonderful son. My son Kaleb was born May 24 2008, and from that moment on I wanted to give him everything he deserves.
MAYA ANGELOU GRADUATION RESPONSE In “Graduation” Maya Angelou defines academic success and achievement in different ways. One way she describes it is as a moving forward with life phase. The senior moves on to bigger and better things and in some ways pass the torch down to the junior ones to now take responsibility. She also describes how one senior graduation turns out to be the whole town celebration. If we look back to the time Maya Angelou graduated from high school, things were different and everyone acknowledge the annual graduation day.
It is not the end but the beginning of something new. For Johnson, her family and her community they were anxious, happy, and couldn’t just wait for the big day to come. They kept busy preparing for what I would call one of the most importance days of their lives. Almost everyone in the school took part or helped in some way except the graduating class. The importance of graduation is to help you realize that after all the hard work, effort, and dedication there is always a result and that is graduating.
HIS/135 Week 4 1960 Diary Entry October 1, 1962 I am so excited, I am in enrolling for my classes at Ole Miss. Today. I am nervous, scared, and excited all at the same time as anyone would that was going off to college for the first time. I am going to be the first in my family to actually attend college and I am proud of myself, and my family is proud of me as well. I am determined to work hard and graduate maybe even with honors that I can sure that I am making a better life for myself as well as for my family.
Having those people show how school has provided them with success motivates the students whether they are college bound or not. It is this piece of collaboration that could make or break a student’s choice to stay in school. (Guinter,2011) These high school students must volunteer ten hours in the community as part of the graduation requirement. If possible, providing volunteer opportunities where these high school students may see how fortunate they are would be a way to improve collaboration. The non-profit agencies are usually in need of volunteers.
I am a big dreamer. I reach for the highest point possible in everything I pursue. I pursued to make honor roll while in middle school and was successful. Even middle school dreams that I have reached would not have been possible if I had not had patience. Now, I am ready for the next chapter to begin in my life, high school.
