Got milk? From the day we are born and throughout life, many if not most people will consume milk in some form. Some people drink it straight. While others have it in their cereal, with chocolate syrup, or any other combination possible. Milk is needed by all for its richness in vitamin D, calcium, magnesium and potassium. But many people don’t like drinking it, so in 1993 the California Milk Processor Board got together and had the advertising company Goodby, Silverstein & Partners start the Got Milk? campaign. Since its start over 20 years ago, there have been hundreds of ads made starring famous actors, athletes, popular celebrities or even superheroes. The ad that I am analyzing is selling milk but it also has a secondary text in it referring to how milk is also essential to dieting. The ad I used for this assignment has the Got Milk? logo in the top left corner, with the right top corner having the words, “Lighten Up”. The background goes from a darker gray color on the left side, then the shading lightens to a light gray towards the right side. The shading is similar to a storm moving forward and darkening the area. In the middle of the ad it shows Kelly Preston is wearing a black tube dress that shows off her shoulders and hugs her figure. The dress also shows off her cleavage. Her hair is off her face in a wild wavy, sexy way to show that she can have fun. Her make up seems to be going to the more natural direction, in that there aren’t that many colors, just something simple any person can wear on a day to day basis. Also on her face, on top of her smirking upper lip is the famous white milk mustache. Her left arm is bent at an angle with her hand on her hip emphasizing her small waist. On her right hand she has a milk glass in a shape similar to an hour glass. Right under the glass there is a statement from Kelly stating how from going to functions
