Globalization or denationalization? Saskia Sassen Sasika sassen argues that there are basically two dynamics to understand the basic theory of Globalization. The first one being formation of international institutions and organizations, such as World Trade Organization, United Nations, World Health Organization, World Bank etc. These organizations work globally on global standards. The second set of processes that she talks about is not really global, but is essential part of globalization. These processes take place in local nationalized organizations but what makes them global is that they are interconnected with many other such nationalized processes that affect a Global scenario. But there is a challenge to the second process as there are many social processes involved in it which affect a global cause, but are very difficult to be recognized as globalized. She makes a point that studying globalization is always not about studying global issues but is also about focussing on certain local and sub-nationalised issues, which globally affect the related issues at large. For example, the commodities market, it is controlled electronically throughout the world, but local people can invest with the help of local brokers or financial centers. This kind of study has some advantages over the studies of globalization on scale dynamics but at the same time it poses challenges too. The advantage is that one can bridge the gap between national and sub-national data, but the major challenge is to decode what is still considered and demonstrated as National. She then talks that some components of globalization brings with them destabilizing of older hierarchies of the scale. Scales and hierarchies constituted through the practices and power projects of past eras. She continues that state in relation to economic globalization has been negotiating the intersection
