Globalisation is an international integration. It can be described as a process by which the people of the world are unified into a single society. Globalisation embodies integration of international markets for goods, services, technology, finance and labour.The multinationals in particular are assuming a major role in integrating the diverse features of globalisation through trade, finance, technology, investment, transfer and relocation of their activities . The origin of globalisation can be traced all the way back to the period of colonisation in the 16th century. It is often said that a global capitalist culture is being promoted by the powerful multinational enterprises. This global culture is being further speeded up by global mass media and communication technologies. James Petrask and Henry Valtmayer James and Henry have described globalisation as another form of imperialism and how multinationals are benefiting through the process of globalisation. Women have a unique position in every society whether developed, developing or underdeveloped. This is particularly due to the various roles they play during various stages of their life, as a daughter, wife, mother and sister etc. Her position is still in a disadvantaged condition as she has to strive hard to overcome the social barriers to reach a status in par with men. Earlier, the reformers thought that by giving women access to education and by enacting progressive legislation social change could be initiated. Women’s education received priority along with the measures to improve maternal and child health and nutrition services. Further, women were recognized as a participant of development.
