Global warming is an issue which not only deals with the increase in the average temperature on Earth because of human involvement but it also deals with other problems. Pollution, destruction of eco-systems, lack of resources would then lead to war conflicts and eventually end with panic and chaos. There is massive concern for this issue yet it seems that corporations, governments and especially people still have a long way to go before reaching an overall agreement. This is strange because if it is a “global” warming, it should be dealt with globally.

One main reason for the difficulty of reaching International agreement on global warming is that there is not an International consensus on whether it is true or not. If some people do not believe in the problem then it is complicated to reach agreements to solve the problem. There are various skeptics on global warming that present data to deny the issue. Christopher Booker, a journalist from the ‘Daily Telegraph’ wrote a review on December 2008 claiming that actually temperatures were dropping in certain areas. He presented the example that in the winter of 2007 the northern hemisphere “saw its greatest snow cover since 1966”. What are even more concerning are the ambiguous declarations from scientists and governments which imply that there is no real problem, without actually explicitly denying it. On March 2008, scientists, economists, policymakers and business leaders affirmed in the Manhattan Declaration on Climate Change that “Global climate has always changed…independent of the actions of humans, and that carbon dioxide is not a pollutant but rather a necessity for all life”. By saying that global climate has always changed independent of human action it is not necessarily denying that human action is changing climate but it is implied that it actually is not.
