Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon? Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon is a film set in the era where the Philippines was colonized by Spaniards. The film was starred by Mr. Christopher de Leon as “Kulas” and Miss Gloria Diaz as Diding and was directed by Mr. Eddie Romero. It is a film about the revolution of Filipinos against the Spaniards during the 20th century and later the American colonizers. The film showed the Philippine setting when the Spaniards were in the Philippines. The Spaniards have influenced us in many ways and that includes the government, economy, and first and foremost, religion. Because he was uneducated, the priest made sure that Kulas was homeschooled and was taught of things about socialization. He was guided by the priest’s attorney, played by Eddie Garcia. This was how the Filipinos were. The poor are uneducated and were looked upon lowly. There was also romance in this film. Diding was a beautiful maiden and a great singer. Many were captivated by her and Kulas was one of them. It felt ridiculous watching how Mr. de Leon portrayed a helpless romantic boy given his roles as of the present as strict man. Diding was just being practical in choosing his partner. She chose a man that would make her dreams come true and the type of man who possesses this quality is man of power. Even though Kulas is now a wealthy man, Diding chose to be with the attorney because he at the same time, was rich and had have power. The film was set when the Filipinos were starting to revolt against the Spaniards. There was a scene were Kulas was thrown in prison accused of something he had not done. There he met a tulisane. He was thrown to jail because was said to be a spy. He was tortured and forced to talk about the revolt and the names of others involved in it. Later, this man escaped
