Future of Modernization Ellin Jaquez SOC 120 November 27, 2011 Stephanie Fleming Future of Modernization Modernization manifests itself in the U.S. society in four different concepts: the diminishing of traditional communities, the aging are becoming more aware of the future, personal choices have become more abundant, and there is more social variety than ever; and at times it may feel like we need to keep up to become member of our own communities. Also modernization can be interpreted as Max Weber did which meant “replacing a traditional worldview with a rational way of thinking”. Rationalization in past societies meant that tradition acted as a constant brake in social changes, this meant that the truth was almost the same as to what has always been. Nowadays society do the contrary and their reason is that truth is the result of rational calculation; Because they value competence and have little respect for the past, modern societies will adopt to any social pattern that allows them to achieve their goal (Macionis, 2006). Although Weber was very critical of modern society, because he knew that science could produce technological and organizational wonder. These great wonders are an indication that modernization is more likely to continue in the U.S. From the technological growth from smart phones to robotic medical technology that are used in our daily lives to improve our communication and where it would reach (smarts phones), to a more efficient and easier procedure that used to be a risk for patients (Robotic medical technology). Many organizational problems emerge, such as the right of women to vote and the Civil rights, just to mention some. All these changes were necessary for the economical growth of many countries including the U.S. Although at this time we are emerging deeper into a reception according to economist, capitalism
