The museum that I chose to go to during my spring break was the American Museum of Natural History. It was very difficult at first to find a museum which relates to my community since my community is mainly political-oriented (Republican Community in Bayside), while most museums are either art/culturally oriented. The American Museum of Natural History was the closest museum that related to my community because of the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial. Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States. He was one of the most profound presidents in the history of our nation, and he is one of the four presidents that have a sculpture on Mount Rushmore.
Engraved into the stone around the main entrance is the quotation “We have lived long but this is noblest work of our whole lives…..The United States take rank this day among the first powers of the earth, said by Robert Livingston on signing of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. During his run for governor Huey Long started the construction of a new, modern capitol building to replace the old Louisiana State Capitol in
The mission church of San Luis Obispo is unusual in its design in that its combination of belfry and vestibule is found nowhere else among the California missions. The main nave is short and narrow (as is the case with other mission churches), but at San Luis Obispo there is a secondary nave of almost equal size situated to the right of the altar, making this the only “L” _ shaped mission church among all of the California missions. The mission church today is a parish church of the diocese of Monterey. Father Serra sent an expedition down south to San Luis Obispo to start building the mission. On September 1, 1772 a cross was erected near San Luis Obispo creek and father junipero Serra celebrated the first mass, marking the site as the destination for yet another mission.
The challenge was to create a strong central government without letting any one person, or group of people, get too much power. How did the Constitution Guard against Tyranny? “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may be justly pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” (James Madison, May. 1787). The Articles of Confederation wasn’t working for the fifty-five individuals at the Constitutional Convention on May of 1787 in Philadelphia.

For example, it was common for a person who was transported for fighting against the British Army on behalf of the United Irishmen, could go on to become the same as what we would no classify as a modern day police man. This led to a revolt with some of the British in particular. The 46th regiment, who took orders from Macquarie, refused to fraternize with any member of the public who had arrived at the colony under the punishment of transportation. However, this did not seem to bother Macquarie at all. He merely explained to people that they were living in a convict colony after
As a US citizen, I have never really taken a thorough look at the constitution. I have learned about it in numerous history classes, watched multiple movies, and read many books about the legendary constitution. It is placed on such a high pedestal that you would never think that it was “flawed” according to Sabato. If I were to stop and think about it, I know that the constitution isn’t perfect. However, we’d never think of that right off of the bat.
Unit 33: Volunteering In the Public Services Contents... 1 Police specials.. 1.1 What they do? The police specials constabulary is a volunteering organisation. The duties carried out by a Special officer are essentially the same as those carried out by any regular police officer. Generally Specials will support regular officers by patrolling on foot or in a car, alone, with another special, or with a regular.Police specials only normally work part time. There are nearly 20,000 specials alone serving in the UK they do everything a regular officer would do, apart from doing it for free because it is something they like doing.
Americans can ask their grandfather for advice whenever they need wisdom. In Afghanistan grandfathers don’t give advice, they give commands. In America, politics could be looked at as a younger man’s game. Across the ocean in Afghanistan you’ll never catch a young man making decisions for the people of the community. No decisions in a village are made without the approval of the village elder; however in America you don’t need your oldest neighbor’s approval to do anything.
