During this time of mass immigration millions of people came to America for a better life. These immigrants had been persecuted in their homes and wanted a new start where they wouldn’t be persecuted anymore. Immigrants heard about these amazing things going on in America and decided to make the long grueling journey overseas to start anew. When the immigrants finally arrived in America some of them realized that those stories might have been exaggerated a little bit, because life in America during that time wasn’t a easy one but it wasn’t a bad one
Not only did everyone need to learn a new language, work had to be found in a country where the customs were different from what they were used to. Even though this country was built by immigrants, times have changed and a limit now needs to be imposed on how many new immigrants are allowed into the United States. People from many different cultures immigrated to this country. The reasons are many. Some felt there would be a better life.
Does immigration contribute to a better America? I agree that it does contribute our America. There are many ways that makes our America a better place with immigration available to contribute. Ways that it contributes is through economic progress, cultural enrichment, and enhancement of the political culture. We are an immigrant nation, immigrants are humans just as we are here in this nation; many of us forget this country was built and begin populating by immigrants looking for a better life.
In conclusion Sanders perspective about moving is that migrants have a good opportunities for making a good home for themselves. Also just because you migrant to a different place do not expect for everything to be all right because there can be different issues happening in that region. Moving can transform individuals such as changing values and trying to assimilate to society. All in all, this is Sanders perspective about
I solemnly believe that English should be a required language in the United States of America. For starters, it would make shopping at stores simpler. Secondly, it would make getting a high-paying job in America much easier, due to the fact that they will most likely require you to be able to read/speak english. Finally, it is just completely disrespectful and rude to not speak the native language of where you will soon live. One of the reasons people should be required to speak English in the United States is because going shopping would be a lot more simple on everybody.
Assimilation There are many people around the world who want to change their lives and make it better. Some of them leave their homes, their friends, their countries and come to the United States to find a better life here. For some newcomers the only way they can survive is living in their national communities, neighborhoods, but others try to assimilate to American people. Assimilation implies that people should forget their background to become a part of a new society. Although many people think that all immigrants should go through assimilation, however I believe that people can become a part of other culture without erasing their own background, because of several reasons.
Renia Laguerre Dr. Stephenson Psychology of culture “Crossing Over” The issues and challenges that immigrants and refugees go through are, being able to be a citizen in the United States, obtaining a residential card, and the process of receiving a green card or visa while in their country. Many groups are forced to move to another country because of war and oppression, and many decide to move for better living. The ones who are forced do not have a plan on where to live or where to go. Many times they are separated from their family and leave friends behind. Immigrants have a better chance because they plan to come to the United States, but the process of receiving a green card can take months or years to obtain.
While they are moving to new land things will be tough. They will have to learn a new language, learn how to function on the streets of New York, find jobs, and meet new friends; starting their new life will be tough, but they will be able to fall back on their tradition as it may be the only stable and consistent they thing they have in their lives. The idea of tradition has the ability to affect everyone in the same way. If you leave behind your friends or loved ones you can fall back on your tradition. If things are not going the way people prefer, or people are uncertain of what is to come, they may fall back to tradition for their tradition is perpetual.
I had to wake up at 9am, 4 days a week, and had to be there at 11:30am. With the obnoxiousness of rude customers, the simplistically constant tasks I had to perform, the manager's terrible treatment of employees, and working at a place like this; I didn't really care about my appearance much. First when I waited on the first customer, the next customer just barged in the store, and demanded to be served. Then later on that day a customer just came in the restaurant, and started to bang on all our tables to catch our attention and we had about ten others customers before him too. This was almost like a daily routine.
They had to go through a lot to get to America and when they actually got here, they were treated like trash. Little did America know that they would be the reason why things operated and it may have actually been a good thing that they came. They did take jobs away from Americans, but they brought ideas and made things run a little bit better. They came to help their families and have a better life like most other immigrants and that’s what America provided. I never knew how much of an impact this immigration stage had on America itself today.
