U.S.A. FOOD HARVEST U.S.A. Harvest was founded in 1987 in Louisville, Kentucky. This organization has expanded across the nation through the efforts of more than 125,000 volunteers. From New York to Los Angeles and from Minneapolis- St. Paul to Miami- hungry people exist in every corner of the country. U.S.A. Harvest is now serving over 5,400 agencies nationwide. One of the most exciting things about being involved with U.S.A. Harvest is the fact that there are so many great people and organizations that are part of the solution. Volunteers have provided over 437 billion pounds of food to these deserving organizations and by doing so have helped save millions of dollars that have been re-allocated to other extremely important needs such as clothing, shelter, job training and opportunities, drug and alcohol rehabilitation and counseling programs. The U.S.A. Harvest does not solicit or accept any money from the government. It is all about the food and their primary focus is not fund-raising, it's "FOOD-RAISING!" Volunteers pick-up extra food from restaurants, hospitals and food suppliers and deliver it to missions, soup kitchens and food banks. There are many famous people that are involved in helping grow for the U.S.A. Harvest such as Scarlett Johansson, who raises over 1,500,000 pounds! Also, to benefit the Hurricane victims, Scarlett even worked together in dishing out some of the food to the homeless in New Orleans. Another famous star - Hilary Duff, is also serious about the hunger problem in the United States! She's on a concert tour and she's asking her fans to bring food to her shows, which will be donated to U.S.A. Harvest to feed the hungry. So far, she's raised over 4,000,000 pounds of food! The Goo Goo Dolls also show their love by supporting the U.S.A. Harvest. In Conclusion, the goal of the U.S.A. Harvest is to grow with volunteers and
