By using these guidelines teachers will become better leaders by building trust between students, demonstrating their listening skills when communicating with students, and show compassion when dealing with students. In order for a teacher-based coach to lead successfully, they must demonstrate trust. When coaches are able to gain the trust of new teachers they are able to offer their skills and knowledge. Trust is established with teachers as they observe coaches’ ability to walk the talk (DuBrin, 2005). Coaches must be open and honest with others.

a group to accomplish specific tasks. The art of patience and cooperation are key factors that are found to be essential for leadership positions in JROTC for the purpose of making sure that each subordinate is able to make a contribution to the team to achieve a goal. Learning how to distin- guish the difference between “leading” and “controlling” separates the competent leaders from the incompetent ones. The skill of taking heed to what will benefit “the group” than “oneself” is a belief that epitomizes leadership and brings success and respect from others. In the ever-changing world we live in, the JROTC program gives positives contributions to society for our youth.
If a coach is readily prepared for a session then its almost guaranteed the athletes or customers will have a more beneficial and constructive lesson as apposed to if the coach just turned up and had not done any prior research and tried to make it up on a spot. This is therefore important that the coach has planned specifically for the group and understands all the athletes needs. and where possible adapted to any specific requirements. As well as preparation before sessions analysing is also important so that coaches can adapt their coaching styles to suit different types of learners. All of these factors help to create the perfect coach; I will now look in to these factors in more detail.
They love praise and recognition for their ideas. It is important for the teacher to get to know the young learners and to draw on their ideas, strengths and interests. If the teacher can build on the their skills, it will make them feel important and increase their self-confidence. Adult learners on the other hand are more self-directed and will take learning seriously, as they are investing in their own education. Adults usually have a purpose in learning and need to see the personal value or reward in taking the classes.
His or her example of what is ethical behavior is going to teach the junior the correct way of doing things. Also, having a good attitude towards employees and treating them fairly are great ways of mentoring. “Perhaps most important is creating an environment in which employees believe people are treated fairly” (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2009). The junior employees need to know what is expected of them and how they are supposed to act or perform in certain situations. In training simulations or real life experiences, mentors need to provide the employee with feedback and positive reinforcement.
A coach should treat everyone as an equal to avoid any conflict and always act as a good role model. A good coach should ask questions rather than just provide answers and identify a different approach each time when dealing with problems The characteristics of a good coach A good coach should be an active listener and able to empathise with the person, to help the individual develop in some way, e.g. to improve performance. The coach should be trustworthy and understanding and should be looking to gain trust of the person from the start. A good coach should adapt an approach which allows the person being coached to gain awareness and insight rather than directly telling them what to do or what they should learn, so the coach does not usually give direct advice.
In this paper the role of personality and job performance is being investigated. Individuals high in conscientiousness are honest, dependable, responsible, self disciplined and achievement oriented (Mount and Barrick 1993; Organ and Konovsky 1996). At Quality Education on many occasion our Manager told us that the tutors are suppose to help the students in face to face interaction, create an environment to get them engaged, and follow rules and adhere to respect organisational properties and resources. In my opinion tutors are suppose to be highly conscientiousness people. Research on the relationship between conscientiousness and job performance suggests that conscientiousness people captures the personal qualities of dependability, achievement striving, competence, and perseverance (Organ and Konovsky 1996, p. 255).

Peer tutors should arrive to class with a positive attitude ready to help the students, being organized, asking questions and using their abilities and skills to assist the students in the classroom learn are very important guidelines for the peer tutor to follow. Having a positive attitude is an excellent trait for a peer tutor to inherit. Having a positive attitude makes it easier for the students in the classroom to approach the peer tutor for assistance. Maintaining a positive attitude is helpful in many ways and makes you likeable among the students.
