Name Teacher Class; Period Date Flying like a Bird It was a thrilling, heart-racing experience I’ve ever encountered. An adventurous and athletic event people should have on their bucket list. You are pulled from a boat and flying through the wind like a bird. I was going to India for one my cousin’s wedding. My first visit since I was a baby. After the wedding, my family and I had a month before we came back to America. One place that I will never forget is Goa. Goa is like our Hawaii, famous for its beaches, and it’s a paradise between the beautiful oceans and the lush forested hills. Goa gave me parasailing. I flew like a bird. It was a bright, sunny morning at Anjuna Beach in Goa. The ocean water was clear and the lightly brown sand felt soft while my footprints trailed behind me. My dad didn’t come because he was scared of heights. I was also scared of heights, but I felt I could do this, so, my uncle and I decided to go. We were at the pier waiting for the boat to come. When we got on the boat, the certified captain and his assistant gave us thorough instructions. Wearing our life jackets on, the captain took us out to the ocean. I sat motionless, bumping up and down, as waves broke against the side of the boat, rocking everyone aboard. Once we got far enough to parasail, the assistant instructed us to stand on a big, black platform that was at the back. We were put into harnesses; it was a strap around the waist with two leg holes, which were loose around my thighs. While he was strapping me, I prayed that I would come back in one piece. A huge, red with yellow stripes parachute was attached to the back of our harnesses. A thick, rugged, dark brown rope, with one end attached to the back of the boat and the other onto the front of our harnesses, was the only thing that was holding us onto our life.
