Flower Carving Knife skills are important to good carving skills. If you want to be able to keep all ten fingers, you must have good skills. Carving is a great hobby for many people, it relaxes them and soothes their nerves. You should only attempt carving if you have patience and do not have shaking hands. Carving is such a painstaking process you must be careful and steady while doing it. Not many have the patience to consider carving but if you do you will be considered an artist Carving is mostly used in Asian countries such as Thailand and China. Fruit carving is often used for decorations in weddings, feasts, and other celebrations. Many different types of fruit and vegetables can be carved into anything. Flower carving is usually used in fruit baskets, to make dishes stand out, and as centerpieces for tables. You must be careful when cutting so not to nick yourself because the pieces of food can be very tiny. When preparing to carve food you must have a clean work area. You must only have what you are cutting on your board . Have a wet towel under the cutting board to prevent slipping. Also have bowl of water ready, putting the food in a bowl of water prevents it from oxidizing. The tools you will need are a small carving knife and a triangle scraping tool The simplest form of flower carving is to actually cut the shape instead of carve it. Once you have set up, you should slice the fruit of vegetable into round one inch slices. Cuts must be even so that if they are cooked they cook evenly, if they are not even some pieces may cook faster than others. You can cut the petals any way you want but it the easiest to cut thin wedges out in the shape of a V so that what is left looks like flower petals.
