Fitness for living, living for fitness For some people, merely mentioning the word “fitness” brings a look of sheer terror while others get an instant “bring it on” attitude and welcome the challenge. Oftentimes, just getting out the door and getting started is the worst part. Once the initial “shock” of your body in movement disappears, most people enjoy the experience. To those who are motivationally-challenged and masters at excuses there are far more negative aspects of fitness than positive. However, to those who know better there are many positive attributes of fitness such as it promotes better health, it can improve one’s appearance, and it is an avenue to network and socialize with people of all types. When a person is engaged in a fitness activity, not only is their physical health being improved, their mental health is improving as well. Study after study has been done and the findings all reveal the antidepressant and psychological benefits of an active lifestyle. A physically fit person enjoys the advantages of having a more healthy heart and the ability to better control their weight. Whether a fitness routine consists of weights or cardio, no one can exempt their body from developing muscles, which burn fat, and eliminating some unwanted pounds. Another good aspect of fitness is that it does not have to be excruciating or last for hours, oftentimes the motto of “work smarter, not harder” will result in enhanced health benefits. Not only will being active lead to better sleep, increased stamina, and improved heart-health, it can also help enhance a person’s appearance. Not everyone is a morning person, but those who are often garner compliments on their morning “glow” and they have their early-bird fitness routine to thank for that.
