One of my potentially greatest unique contributions to the college community of North Carolina A&T State university is the ability to create relationships between people of similar and/or diverse backgrounds, and a desire to understand others' ideas and beliefs. When people hear the word 'diversity', they often think two dimensionally. It’s a concept often thought of in terms of nationality or socio-economic status. I believe the true meaning of diversity is not simply about skin color, economic background or the face value of any other characteristic, rather it is the increased knowledge and understanding of other people gained from unique experiences. The strength of diversity then comes from having many points of view and trying to reconcile them by finding common truths or

Diversity in College Campuses Diversity is defined as the inclusion of individuals representing more than one national origin, color, religion, socioeconomic stratum, sexual orientation, etc. This has led to initiatives such as affirmative action which enables favoring members of a disadvantaged group who suffer from discrimination within a culture. This has led to colleges and universities taking action in attempts to make campuses much more inclusive and welcoming for people of all different backgrounds. This was definitely one of the issues I was most concerned with when I decided to attend Long Beach state after my senior year in high school in 2010. I grew up in a small town where a vast amount of diversity was not fully present.
To get a higher education is perhaps crossing the biggest milestone of your life. A college education is a very valuable thing and everyone should get one, so that we can all be enlightened and help make our society a better place. A college is a place where people come together in an environment that helps nurture their educational curiosities. For example, a college student and a high school student have a lot of differences when it comes to doing stuff like work because a student from college can rationalize than a high school student.
By basing its activities in a community centered environment, FLP gives freshmen an opportunity not many other organizations can give to their students, and that is the simple idea that putting together a strong group of minds can cultivate great ideas and have a huge influence on a school. Being part of FLP would allow me the opportunity to interact with peers and strive to make relationships that not only aids in my own personal growth, but also encourages those around me to grow together as well. I look forward to sharing thoughts and encourage like-minded students to grow in their leadership and scholastic endeavors, as well as have a group that I know I can count on. Through the past
Carmen Espinal Mrs. Ranes ENC1101 December 8th, 2013 Remediation Analysis America has always been characterized for the acceptance of large amounts of immigrants and the cultural diversity that gives the nation its complex culture. However, integration of cultures and immigrants becomes a complicated process when the immigrants themselves raise boarders around them and limit their experience to ethnic groups. In order to express my opinion more efficiently, I chose to remediate my essay into a short video that would target recently arrived immigrants, specifically college students. This new media choice will allow me to communicate my thoughts and suggestions to all immigrants in a universal way, and hopefully encourage foreign students to
Diversity in a college community A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you. A culturally diverse student community is generally more mature and held in high esteem. It gives all students an opportunity to share and spread their distinct cultures. Each individual brings with him/her new traditions, concepts, beliefs, thinking, methods of execution and new approaches to problem-solving.
The first reason is because a lot of people want a job that will pay very good money. By going to college, you will have the hands-on learning education you need to start your chosen career. This is a huge reason why a lot of careers require you to have at least a two or four year degree. Another reason why college matters is because it helps students boost their confidence level out in the real world. There are countless things that people have to do every single day in life so going college will help give you a better idea of what the definition of life really is.
A college education will greatly improve my career options and financial wellbeing. It will give me the knowledge and skills to be successful in my chosen career field. Even though I have continued to learn throughout my life experiences, a formal education will equip me with the ability to form better opinions and expand points of view in everyday life. Furthermore, education will help me to build on my work ethic and values to develop a more mature stable future. College education will provide a clear direction that will help motivate me to make better decisions in all aspects of my life.
The college experience opens all types of doors in your mind and in the world. “When students experience a post secondary education, they have the opportunity to read books and listen to the lectures of the top experts in their fields. This stimulation encourages students to think, ask questions, and explore new ideas, which allows for the additional growth and development and provides college graduates with an edge in the job market over those who have not experienced a higher education.” (McGuire, Jeff. Importance of College Education) I couldn’t agree more with this passage. It speaks in volumes to me.
