Gang warfare in America Gang violence in America does not provide any real positive resources for young teens. Being in a gang might be important if you don’t have a family or friends. People sometime want to be only in their own ethic group for different reasons for a sense of security and purpose. The way gangs have moved into our communities at an alarming rate, we are up against a strong force. Most gangs operate for profits and affect our young teens; I feel that we all should stand up and fight against gangs in our communities.
However, one of the primary reasons of young people why the join gangs and commit violence is to gain recognition in the community. Some gang members commit are the children of gang members themselves and are following in the their parents’ footsteps. In this sense, gang members commit different forms of violence, as being influenced by the violence being committed also by their parents. A child or young individual become who they are depending on the rearing patterns of this or her parents, and the environment from the or she is exposed to. If they
Every conflict has its significant implications on administrative and departmental officer procedures. The mainly problem that always occurring is the physical brutality, which the main goal is to get the police department to enforce and adopt a written policy. However, polices limiting actions will bring most of debate especially from the police officers themselves. “Many feel that their firepower is already too weak to battle the weapons criminals have on the streets, and limiting their legality of gun use will not only endanger them, but the innocent bystanders who must endure the hierarchy gun power creates in the benefit of criminals.” (Bouza, Anthony. 1990) It’s necessary to ask help from the superior officers so that a tolerance of brutality will not establish.
There are so many reasons as to which juveniles can talk themselves into joining gangs. Reasons having to do with family problems or even involvement in the gangs, to friends being there, making money fast and having a sense of “security” when with his or her gang members. One of the main reasons why kids partake in gang activity is because of a neglected feeling from their family. “If young people aren’t getting positive attention from parents, joining a gang certainly provides lots of negative attention. Youth who are angry at a parent may join a gang to shock or be defiant toward the parent”.
Children from poverty, who experience hopelessness, and who are bored and are looking for nice clothes and long to have money think being in a gang can earn them lots of pocket money. Gangs make their money by dealing drugs, forcing people to pay for protection. Television also plays a part in the role to the road of gangs. Many shows on television glorify gangs and are often told from the gang members’ perspective that depicts lots of violence. Teenagers long for acceptance and always think that being in a gang is a solution to all their
Young teens today join gangs due to the peer pressure of their peers, and for attention. I believe that humans are influenced into gangs by society such as in media, the government, movies, drugs and the main one our economic system. All my questions where answered after attending “Fresno speaking out against Gangs” and being able to listen to former members of gangs. The panelists told us life stories
The surface might show cooperation, but scratch that surface and you will find a struggle for power (Henslin, 2013). Gangs have a jump in process. During this process weakness is beat out of those joining the gang. This deviant behavior shows weather a person can handle the demands of the gang life. The gang members will continue to perfect their deviance by fighting, or waging wars for other gang’s streets.
In order to be considered a part of the gang, they must commit criminal acts that range from basic burglary to acts of violence. Their admission to the gang relies on their completion of these tasks ordered by members in the hierarchy of the gang, thus placing a sense of urgency and desire to be successful in their attempts. This behavior is directly contrary with the social control theory and in line with delinquent subculture. Social control theory is defined by stating that control is derived from socialization and social learning by the
Gang violence is pretty much defined as the rivalry between different groups of people. Before I started researching gang violence I knew that there are gangs everywhere and almost all of them are very violent. When your in a gang it’s pretty much your family. You have to do anything for them. I also knew that gangs appeal to young people because there’s a lot of power that you get.
Gang violence is seen where unprivileged people live, and it has become one of the most important things that society has to face. The community I grew up in was filled with gang violence which caused a lot of problems because shootings would be heard; sometimes, it is unsafe to go outside because gang members would be shooting each other. This inspired me not only change the way I live, but society in general. When I become a successful adult, I would like to draw attention to gang violence so that I can help move towards potential solutions that will make the community a better place. By developing strong communication bonds with teens, we can help prevent teems from joining gangs which will result in fewer gang violence crime rates.
