Lawrence of Arabia was directed by David Lean and produced by Sam Spiegel. The three main characters were Peter O’Toole as T.E. Lawrence, Alec Guinness as Prince Faisal, and Anthony Quinn as Auda abu Tayi, and it was released December 10, 1962. I watched this at Shannon Rudder’s house with Brooke Edwards, Christopher Fernandes, Johnny Perez, Bryan Vega, Autumlace Grasman, Amy Ibarra, Olivia Sanchez, Drew Flowers, Karissa Valdovinos, Brandi Figueredo, and Kassandra Duran on January 28, 2012. At the beginning of the show, Lawrence of Arabia is killed in a motorcycle accident and it makes people think back on his life.
Children are hindered by these kinds of schools, teachers and peers lay a big role in the children’s lives. Some teachers are there for the income it will bring into their house hold and not the well-being of the child and students are pressued by their peers into thinking that education is lame and for losers. In most cases this is what children of low income go through but not all. Many may not realize that the surroundings of children may sometimes affect their future. Being raised in a low income area surrounded by people living the same lifestyle as you as if struggling is the norm of society.
Lost Dreams: The Glass Castle One of the most important things that parents provide for their children is a stable background: a roof to sleep under, regular meals, and a sense of security. In fact, some turn to a faulty upbringing in order to explain violence, crime, drug abuse or general bad behavior in adult life. However, Jeannette Walls grew up with an alcoholic father and a shiftless mother, neither of whom provided for or protected their children. She was raised in a household where sufficient food was a rarity, traveling around from small town to small town, often living in conditions that to most would be unbearable; yet as an adult, she created a life for herself that she deems comfortable and stable. The Glass Castle is a stirring account of Walls’s childhood, her relationships with her family, and her ability to overcome all the hardships she was faced with.
With all the darkness in the movie this made me think that even though this children are so innocent, they still have the maturity in them, with all their dark clothes and how the achieve their quests. And how black is the opposite of white; Violet lost her faith to win their quest, when she was dress in white during the wedding. The fire symbolizes as knowledge, light and life. This explains how the Baudelaire orphans found their knowledge that their parents are leaders of a secret organization; the light that guided them to their journey, and the life that is ironic, because there are a lot of lives that have been taken away in this story like the orphan’s parents. The eye symbol has been seen in the movie a couple of times, especially on Count Olaf’s house and in the tower, where I think it means that the eye see’s everything, which also the eye in the tower is made as a big magnifying glass.

A Modest Proposal At The beginning of “A Modest Proposal”, Jonathan Swift talks about how when he lived people that were born poor stayed poor and how women would raise these young men and they would become thieves or go off to war and fight. He says how women can’t really live their own life and they just have to be house moms. He starts off saying that these poor kids at a young age are pretty much worthless. They cannot do anything to help out until they get older then they maybe can learn how to steal for the family. So he goes on to tell about how he heard from a friend that an infant at about 1 year old makes a very tasty meal no matter which way you cook it.

Esperanza has parents who were born into a life of poverty and have had to struggle throughout their life just maintain a decent living. Paul’s family lives in a mansion with servants and housekeepers whereas Esperanza has lived in multiple houses only to be left dreaming of a nice house to live in. The parents of Paul are very ignorant and selfish due to their ranking financial status as middle-class whereas Esperanza’s family is sharing and walk through life as one. If Esperanza struggles then the whole family will struggle with her to get her through unlike Paul’s parents where the mother will receive money and instead of spending it with her Paul and his father she would rather go shopping for herself. Esperanza and her family have more family values due to the fact they have been living the in the poverty level most of their life with nothing leaving them with only to each other to rely on.
Through this correlation, one can see how such factors can keep children in impoverished homes throughout their lives. Education is a social problem in the mix of poverty. In many low-income cities, a good education is very rare for many leaders of the household. This lack of education usually results in generational poverty. In other words, children end up following in their parent’s footsteps by dropping out of school at a young age.
