The paper focuses on the male mind and excludes any studies or discussions involving females as sexual aggressors. The article says that pornography encourages the rape of women in several ways. According to Pornography as a Cause of Rape, pornography undermines men’s inhibitions towards rape and aggressive behavior by means of classical conditioning. Men watch porn and learn how to “…rape, beat, sexually abuse, and degrade women” (p. 339) It predisposes men to rape fantasies, providing sexual appetites for forceful intercourse that were not there previous
It is not going to be an argument about it is art or not. To examine the dissimilarities in detail, there is not only difference between cultures but also between people that have a various levels of morality. This essay will examine the history of pornography in artworks and use the knowledge of history to analyses four different pornography images including my own practice. Also find out the reasons why pornography became obscene and unacceptable for some people and some culture. 1.Pornography came from greek word pornographos (writing about prostitutes), from pornē-prostitute + graphein-to write; general meaning is the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) which causes sexual excitement 2.The word obscene has been linked to the greek term “ob skene” which mean “off stage”; can interpret to something that should be kept out of public view, from Oxford English Dictionary BODY In the prehistoric world, there
Others will say that they can’t explain it, but they know it when they see it. Emilie Buchwald, the author of Transforming a Rape Culture describes rape culture as “a complex set of beliefs that encourage male sexual aggression and supports violence against women.” The people of a rape culture assume that violence is a fact of life when in reality it is not, and is actually the values and attitudes of a society, which are quite possible to change. Rather than teaching that people shouldn’t rape, they try to teach what to do to make it less likely that a rapist will choose you. The Marshall University Women’s Center explains that “Rape culture is perpetuated through the use of misogynistic language, the objectification of women’s bodies, and the glamorization of sexual violence, thereby creating a society that disregards women’s rights and safety.” America has objectified sex to the point where it’s more about reaching a goal of obtaining sex than it is about intimacy and emotions. According to Becky Lockwood, the associate director at a center for women, this causes people to see sex as a commodity, making them think it is okay to do whatever they deem necessary to acquire it, even if that means violence.
Compare and Contrast TWO models of sexual assault and their respective utility for (i) the treatment and management of sex offenders and (ii) assisting the police in criminal investigations. When anyone wants to investigate criminal sexuality from different perspectives such as legal, academic, or simply curiosity-motivated, the multiplicity and variety of the internal part of phenomenon becomes quite clear. Few dimensions of the behaviour inlying the sexual crimes have to be considered to perceive the disequilibrium and complexity of sexual assault (Hazelwood, 2000). Despite the fact that advances were made in recent decades to help understand, detect, and treat sexual offenders, sexual assault still remains a serious topic that still persists in society (Langton & Marshall, 2001). Also, the studies developing models of offences and offenders grouping depending on individual cases have grown over the past couple of years (Trojan & Salfati, 2008).
This paper, however, will go beyond the stereotypes typically assigned to these people, and research the actual lives of both male and female porn stars. Too often does humanity simply point the finger and look past the lives of those they say are leading them to sin. What most fail to realize are the inequalities that take place with this job.
Since the innovation of the internet, the pornography industry has rapidly expanded; consequently, pornography is one of the most controversial industries as Russel and Watson strongly argue that it elicits sexual aggressive behavior and creates pre-constructed attitudes towards women. Conversely, in the 21st century pornography has transitioned from a heterosexual industry into an divers medium of adult entertainment. Russel asserts that pornography nurtures a violent tendency towards women by a virtue of the social learning theory and creates negative inhibitions about interpersonal violence by performances that objectify women and trivialize the act of rape. (Russel) Howard and colleagues refute Russel’s argument stating that although pornography may accentuate sexual aggressive attitudes, the patterns of violence lie within the individual not the content implying that pornography does not create these attitudes nor will enforce that they will act on them. (Howard) Furthermore, it is impossible to isolate pornography from all other forms of entertainment that demonstrate sexual violence and then conclude that pornography is the only source that exerts these actions and emotions.
The few Nordic researchers who have studied this problem disagree about whether exposure to hard-core pornography has any effect upon well-balanced children and young people and, if it does, what kind of effect we are dealing with. In many ways this research project is unique. It focuses on an area in constant development and in which the new media play an important role. The access that children and young people have to cable and satellite television and the internet as well as their consumption of products of mass culture have increased their chances of exposure to pornographic material – both regular pornography and mainstreamed, fragmented references to the pornographic universe. Exposure is not always voluntary.
Should Porn be Outlawed: Pornography’s Effects on Relationships, Society, and the Economy Pornography at its very core is a word that comes with much stigmatism. The word “pornography” come from Greek root words porne “prostitute, female slave” and graphos “to write, describe” (“Online Etymology Dictionary”). Right off the bat the word implies that the woman is a slave to the bidding, of the person producing the pornographic material. Defining pornography is a difficult task. Several factors can influence the definition of the word, the definition changes depending on the social and historical situation it is used in, something that was considered porn 100 years ago (Ex.
Censorship is a very sensitive issue in the art community. In art, it is a way to stop a piece of work, that is considered inappropriate, to show to people. There is a very big difference between pornography and art. We define pornography as another form of entertainment and we define art as a form of expression. Art and pornography focuses on different ideas and they have different intentions.
For men, it is simply a means to enjoy women’s bodies. But for women, it is cruel punishment that can never be washed away. As the article mentions, rape is only called rape when it is done to a pure woman, not to a married woman. But from my point of view, unless the woman agrees, it should be designated as violence. Rape culture can be found around the world, especially in India as the article mentions.
