FHT4 Task 3 A thirteen-year-old seventh grader is constantly drawing, sleeping, or daydreaming. The student reads at a second grade level and has poor reading comprehension skills. The student gets frustrated easily and eventually gives up on academic tasks. The student loves drawing and recess and lives with a parent who is recently divorced. The student is usually late to school, is friendly but has few friends, and has a hard time sitting still in a chair. Describe at least three at-risk behaviors that you would address as this student's teacher, and explain why each behavior is problematic. Behavior 1. The student is constantly daydreaming. Daydreaming is a problem because the student is not focusing on the teacher and is missing important instruction that will be needed in order to complete assignments. She won't be able to complete her assignment during independent work time because she didn't hear the instructions, this will put her further behind in her academic progress. Behavior 2. The student is on a second grade reading level. This is a problem because most school work requires that you read instructions before completing a task. If the student isn't able to read or understand the instructions at the seventh grade level, she may not complete the task accurately, if she completes it. Again, this will affect her academic progress negatively. Behavior 3. The student is usually late for school. Being late is a problem because miss miss out on bell work, which is a good opportunity to review subjects learned the previous day. Teachers will sometimes share important information at the beginning of class, such as a class trip, an upcoming quiz, or other important reminders. When a student comes late she doesn't hear the extra reminder and may come unprepared for a quiz or a class trip. Briefly describe at least three instructional
