ENGL 1311 16 September 2013 “The River” It was a hot day to be on the Guadalupe River for Memorial Day weekend. My family and I loaded up the truck, filled the cooler with cold drinks, packed our swim suits, and headed out. The water seemed warm, you could smell the burgers on the grill, kids were playing and the sun was blazing. You can say it was a perfect time to be out with the family enjoying each other’s company. The river is about 230 mi long.
I had never seen the ocean before, and my stomach was filled with butterflies. The sun was out, and bouncing off the water in the harbor. The boardwalk stretched past stores, restaurants, and various types of boats. The smell was crisp but salty. I remember looking down into the water and seeing a crab nestled on a rock.
The scene starts off with a ‘pan shot’ of the whole of the group on the beach. This shot is good as it also shows the group’s isolation. After the long pan shot the scene does a ‘straight cut’ to Chrissy on her own. This also enforces how she is isolated from the group. After this it cuts to a long pan shot of Chrissy and this boy chasing her along the sea front.
Trout Lake is located near the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, surrounded by massive white birch and maple tress, beautiful meadows, and crystal clear water, so clear you can almost see the bottom. It was a place to get away from everyday life, for the weekend or just for a week or two. Trout Lake holds a special place in my heart and I have some really fond memories of spending time there. It's a place where memories are made, like the first time I learned how to swim, the family BBQ'S, sitting around the campfire roasting hotdogs and marshmallow's for s'mores, and holidays, especially the Fourth of July. Spending time at Trout Lake changed my perspective on what the "word" family means.
Immediately after the break, we took the direction of the water park. At that moment the temperature was in the 80 degree. My family and I, were so hot and couldn’t wait to refresh ourselves in the cool water, we walked about half mile before we reached the water park. We went to the locker to put on ours swimming wears and my kids jumped first in the water. The water being cool for my wife and me, we were hesitant to enter on it.
Box Jellyfish are very dangerous fish that live in the ocean around Australia. They live in shallow waters mainly. The Jellyfish are extremely clear and large, so they are impossible to see in the water. They have nine feet long tentacles, and 24 unblinking eyes, so they can see 360 degrees around. If they come close to you, you will get stuck in there tentacles (Tarshis 6-7).
I went to the Potomac River with my group on June 26th. We had so much fun and we went canoeing. My group really loved it. And I think I’m going to go back one day. I honestly loved it and I’m not outside person but it was amazing trip.
Evaluation on Red Lobster Kimberly Curington March 4, 2012 DeVry University My favorite restaurant to dine at is Red Lobster. The Red Lobster restaurant is a well-known corporate chain of restaurants that offers a wide variety of Seafood dishes. Red Lobster is a mid-priced, causal restaurant specializing in Seafood. I love the experience of dinning at Red Lobster because the atmosphere is welcoming, the food is great and the service is excellent. A particular visit last week proved to me that Red Lobster lives up to the expectations of its guests.
“Why can’t I go to soccer camp? !” I yelled from the back seat time after time. “Because we are having a family vacation to the island. Think of how lucky you are to be able to go to places like this.” My patiently replied, trying to placate my growing frustration by attempting to persuade me that this vacation would be more fun and interesting than ordinary soccer camp. “I’d be luckier if I didn’t have to sit through this car ride” I retorted before turning up my Walkman and slumping down in my seat to enjoy the “beautiful scenery”.
I would relax quietly on the lime rock bed of the swimming hole and watch the movement of the fish swimming below. As I sat with my feet dangling over the edge, my mind would to take me far beneath, swimming deep into the clear green-blue water, the gentle swaying of sea grass brushing softly against me I would wonder what it must be like to be a fish. When the sunset began to go down I knew it was time to head back home. I was always up for a good competition. So during weekends, my cousin would come out to stay with us to get away from the city, she enjoyed swimming we would head to the swimming hole where we pretended to be in the Olympics we would have relay races to see who could get to the other side first.
