Two round trip tickets to Paris will cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of four thousand dollars. Of course, you have to buy two tickets. I would not be caught going to Paris alone. Throw in the cost of a hotel room, rental vehicle, and exquisite Parisian cuisine, and you are probably looking at closer to eight thousand dollars to enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of “La Ville-Lumiere,” as I heard some pretentious Frenchman call it. Check your itinerary, do not forget the plane tickets, grab your map, and learn to drive on the wrong side of the street. Abruptly, I am thinking I do not want to go to Paris. Suddenly, I am thinking, I live where the rest of the free world comes to vacation. Even with all the terrible Florida drivers, zombie attacks, and manic street preachers, they still come in herds to Florida to see the most beautiful beaches on the planet. How much will that cost me? Maybe 6 bucks and change in gas. Sure, beach food is not as classy, and we do not have an Eiffel Tower, but somehow, as I watch my kids throw a dollar store frisbee in the foamy surf without a care in the world, I realize I do not need to go to Paris. I do not need to go anywhere. I am already at the greatest place in the world: Pepper Park Beach. Unquestionably, Pepper Park Beach is a masterpiece that was meticulously painted by the Creator. As I float in the ocean, I watch the sun’s rays cause the treasure chest of sapphires and emeralds glitter around me. Gazing at the clouds above me, I try to unearth a plush, eggshell, ship in the sky. Ivory caps form on the crashing waves while they break against the shore where my kids are making an entire kingdom that is overlooked by an enormous sand castle. I would choose that castle over the Eiffel Tower any day. The sun toasts my skin, which makes the Native American part of my heritage more apparent. Fortunately, I brought the 80
