The world has seen a huge increase in health issues since the beginning of the fast food craze. Although fast food is a quick and convenient meal that helps the average person who is always on the go, fast food will end up increasing your calorie intake that could lead to obesity. Fast food also increases your risk of heart disease by an astonishing percent. While at the same time boots your chances of suffering a stroke or developing type- 2 diabetes. Obesity is among the top health issues associated with the consumption of fast food. Although fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger king and Wendy’s serve quick and affordable meals, those meals have little to no nutritional value. “The average Burger King Quad Stacker weighs in at 920 calories, 63 grams of fat, 28 grams of saturated fat and 1,670 milligrams of sodium. Add a medium-sized fries and soft drink to your order and you'll easily consume at least a day's worth of calories and two days' worth of cholesterol-raising saturated fat and cholesterol.” (Beck) The high calorie and fat content is due to the fast food company’s meat suppliers. In order to make a profit off their already low priced meals the fast food companies have to use high fat meats that contain more Trans and saturated fat than that of leaner cuts. The increase in potion sizes is also a major factor in fast food obesity. The increase in modern technology has allowed potatoes used for French fries to be produced quicker and cheaper than in the past. This has allowed fast food companies to increase their potion sizes by only pennies on the dollar and still make a profit. In addition to obesity another health issue associated with eating fast food is cardiovascular disease or heart disease. Heart disease is often associated with obesity. So the consumption of fast food on a regular basis can lead to higher risks of heart disease. The
