Knight was given the nickname, “The General” by Dick Vitale because the he was highly educated in military history. Indiana reached the Final Four in 1973, losing to UCLA. In 1976, the Hoosiers were undefeated at 32-0 and won championship, beating Michigan 86-68 in the title game. Knight’s Hoosiers also won championships in 1981. When Indiana won the 1979 NIT championships, Knight led the U.S. national team to a gold metal in the Olympic Games as coach of the Michael Jordan team.

Playing a great role in the history of modern American liberalism, King had a very interesting young life being a constant worker for civil rights for members of his race while being in the ministry. His approach though, brought him afflictions which also paved the way to his untimely assassination. Elijah Muhammad was a role model to Malcolm and Elijah took Malcolm under his wing and taught him many things. After a getting out of prison, Elijah made Malcolm go to Boston to turn people into the Nation of Islam and he was able to get many people to convert to The Nation of Islam. As reward Elijah Muhammad made Malcolm a minister in a church and Malcolm Little transformed into Malcolm X because his actual last name was unknown because the white man took his ancestors and brought them to America to become slaves and to abuse them. Elijah Muhammad essentially made Malcolm X his right hand and because of Elijah Muhammad turned into a great speaker, a great debater and a great leader. Malcolm X debated many people to argue his ideas.

Dr. King was well know for advocating civil rights with methods of non-violence such as the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott, and the March on Washington in 1963 where he ultimately delivered his “ I Have a Dream” speech. His honors include a Nobel Peace Prize, U.S. streets named after him, and the creation of a nationally celebrated holiday after him. Dr. King ended up in Birmingham, Alabama because he was chosen by the SCLC to lead against economical injustice and racial segregation.

He creates a good image for himself and builds momentum for civil rights legislation. The idea of a march was first conceived in 1941, when Randolph threatened President Franklin D. Roosevelt to assemble 100,000 African Americans in the capital, if he refused to sign an executive order banning discrimination in the defense industries and creating the Fair Employment Committee. Randolph’s idea sparked up again more than 20 years later. His main focus for the march was the same as the previous marches. He along with others demanded equality in the job industries and education. In a December 1962 meeting, Randolph and Bayard Dustin began to plan the March on Washington.
