It was the best summer of my life. I made a lot of friends, and at the end we got Junior Guard bags, T-shirts, and of course Junior Guard Stripes. This stripe has a lot of sentimental value for me because this is a symbol of the Junior Lifeguard camp. I went through a lot of things at this camp, and I am not going there again, so it can be a very good reminder of time I spent there. This stripe was given to me by the Junior Lifeguard couch.
Florida is a strong example of an internationally recognised crowded coast, attracting many tourists every year to its long stretches of famous coastline. There are a number of both physical and economic factors that bring Florida its popularity, making it an ideal choice as a tourist destination. Since 1980, some counties in Florida have experienced a 400% population increase. However, as Florida’s coastline continues to attract more tourism from the vast range of ‘pull factors’, there is a risk of it eventually becoming a very densely populated state. So, in this response, I will be assessing how Florida’s attractions affect the rate at which it’s coastline is becoming evermore crowded.
Edna Pontellier, a mother of two sons and marrired to a New Orleans businessman, takes a vacation with her family at a seaside resort in Grand Isle, Louisiana. While on vacation Ms. Pontellier meets Adele Ratignolle, another married mother, which whom Ms. Pontellier spends most of her time with. Ms. Pontelliers friendship with Adele has her open up and has Ms. Pontellier remember her youth and the whole idea of freedom. As Ms. Pontellier gets close to Adele she then meets Robert Lebrun, the son of Madame Lebrun. Robert is well known at the Grand Isle resort and is known to chooses a lady every summer which he spends time with, and this summer Robert just so happens to choose Ms. Pontellier.
Since the early 1800s, Coney Island, “playground of the world,” has played many roles in the lives and imagination of New Yorkers and the world. From its beginnings as a quiet seaside town, Coney Island went on to boom years in the 1880s, wealthy New Yorkers flocked there to enjoy a stay at the beautiful hotels and bathhouses that had sprung up along the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Only those, who could afford to travel on a steamboat to Coney Island, had a chance to visit “The Dreamland” on their vacation or weekend time. Poor immigrant and regular workers didn’t have money to go to Coney Island, so they were stuck in their slums, where they used to live in a very bad condition and suffer from different illnesses. Coney Island's three big luxury hotels, the Manhattan Beach, Oriental and Brighton Beach were the epitome of a gracious and leisurely age, a unique expression of their era.
What has led to coastalisation in Florida and why is it a problem? Florida, dubbed the Sunshine state because of its climate, is the southernmost state in the USA with facing the Atlantic Ocean to the east and includes over 10,000 km of water surface with more freshwater springs than anywhere else in the US. Florida’s coastline is a popular destination for tourism and migration. But why is Florida really the 4th most populous state in the US? For one, the annual average temperature is 72⁰F with a warm, sunny, mostly dry climate which is perfect for outdoor activities and going to the beach which is suitable for tourism.
Cedar Point offers different hotel and lodging options too. They have Hotel Breakers which is located right by CP and on the beach, Sandcastle Suites, Lighthouse Point, Camper Village, Breakers Express, and another indoor and outdoor waterpark, Castaway Bay. All of these facilities are located in less than five minutes of Cedar Point. Having a beach right outside the park is very convenient. Moreover, tourism has become a part of Florida’s history. Tourists and residents like my husband and I often enjoy visiting theme parks, military bases and Kennedy Space Center. Finally, moving to Florida has provided my husband and me with the opportunity to purchase affordable real estate. Over 60% of homes in Florida are owner occupied. According to many studies home ownership also provides many benefits to the family, children and the community.
During this summer I went on vacation to Florida and Puerto Rico. I stayed in Florida for a week and two weeks in Puerto Rico. One day I would love to move to Florida because I love the weather there and the different things you can do there
