Brianna D Dr. Ugwueze AFRS 100 Language Skills: Composition 2 1 Oct. 2012 Essay #2: Family Tradition All over the world there are many different types of family traditions. Some family traditions are based on the family’s culture, religion, or country. For example, in America, it is a tradition for the American families to celebrate the Fourth of July. Some family traditions are simply created by the family. For example, some families have always reserved Sunday as family day, where they spend time with their family only. One of my family’s traditions is that we celebrate the Easter holiday every year. As Easter starts to approach my mom and I would start to decorate the house with some Easter decorations. We would spend about thirty minutes putting up the decorations throughout our house. To prepare for Easter Sunday my mom would take me, my sister and two brothers shopping about a week or two for new church clothes and shoes to wear for Easter Sunday. When my whole family would prepare for Easter, everyone would call each other up to figure out who was going to make what dish for the Easter dinner that we always have at my grandma’s house. Every other year all of the cousins would get together and we would all make Easter baskets for each other. To make sure everyone had a basket made for him or her everyone would put their name in a hat and everyone would have to take one out. On the day before Easter my sister and I would our mom make the food that we were going to take to the Easter dinner. We would also bake a cake that we would save for only us to eat after we would come back home for the night. When we were done cooking, my brothers, sister, and I would boil some eggs and then dye them different colors. We then would choose an egg and personalized it with a sticker.
