How important is family to student success Family involvement is extremely important in a student success. Family involvement improves student success, regardless of race/ethnicity, class, or parent’s level of education. For involvement to happen, however, principals, teachers, and parents themselves must believe that all parents can contribute to their children’s success in school. Parents can promote their children’s academic success by teaching their children the importance of education. Finding out what their children are expected to know and to be able to do and reinforcing lessons at home. Also send their children to school ready to learn every day. Being a parent myself I have found it to be very important to establish a daily family routine with scheduled homework time. Studies also have shown that successful students have parents who create and maintain family routines. Make sure your child goes to school every day. Establish a regular time for homework each afternoon or evening, set aside a quiet, well lit place, and encourage children to study. Routines generally include time performing chores, eating meals together, and going to bed at an established time. Just like in “Mother to Son, the mother explains Don’t you set down on the steps ‘Cause you finds it kinder harder (15-16). As a parent u have to explain to them the importance of anything there trying to accomplish and never give up on life lessons. Also Speaking up for children protects and promotes their success. Children whose parents are advocates for them at school are more confident at school and take on and achieve more. The more families advocate for their children and support their children’s progress, the longer their children stay in school and the better their children do in school.
