The company started off to a slow start in technology where they were taking inventory on paper and they also didn’t have a website where customers could view information about the store and even order items (Kudler Fine Foods). The company has made a lot of changes that has helped the organization grown and to add customers to its three stores that they have up and running. Kudler has set up a website to where their customers will be able to view the items that they have on stock and other information about their products. They also have information about the organization on that website and offer customers the opportunity to order products from off of the website. Also they will be able to get feedback from customers from the website.
Even though the prime focus of these systems is not necessarily to cut labor costs, often times they can improve efficiency. Store cashiers do much more than just point of sale transactions. They ensure that the store is stocked, clean, and up to date with all products. (Especially perishables) “Self-checkout can allow more time for convenience store employees to handle these additional transactions and activities” (Murphey, p.
End Vision First, I think that implementing a good management plan by the upper level management is very important for KFF’s to succeed as a company. Having a replacement inventory coordinator who purchases the best possible products for all three stores, Also, having a person who controls the accounts payable, receivables, and finances that coordinate all vendors get paid on time will allow Kathy Kudler to focus more on duties that need more attention. For instance, implement a better website for the business will give better benefits to customer, therefore, sells will increase. The company needs to understand the difference between having a website and having an effective website. The website that is in place in KFF only displays the goods and services.
5/2/13 BSA/310 Frequent Shopper Program Kudler Fine Foods created a frequent shopper program which gives customers incentives to continue shopping there. Their rewards are determined by how much is spent on groceries and how frequent purchases are made. “Frequent Shopper Program proves the ability to gather data for marketing programs and run promotions for the loyal customers.” (Frequent Shopper). Web based advertising would allow for major cost reduction and provide helpful and effective consumer awareness about said products. In order for Kudler Fine Foods to develop a functioning frequent shopper program, it must track and monitor consumers shopping behavior.
By purchasing or creating a system for KFF, Kathy would be able to spend time interacting with the customers that she enjoys. All of the stores would become electronic in every way. When the stores order product, the system logs them. When product is sold, the cash registers communicate with each other and to the system, where inventory is automatically deducted. The purchasing agent could then monitor the inventory and order product when necessary for each store and have it delivered on an as-needed basis.
Week 8 System Evaluation Paper Kenneth McDougald IT/205 September 21, 2014 Christyn Wright System Evaluation Paper Information technology systems are designed to make businesses run smoothly and at optimal performance. These systems differ depending on the business that is utilizing them. An example of this would be the logistical systems for Burger King versus those in use by Fed Ex. Fed Ex uses a system that tracks a package throughout its journey from sender to recipient at every step of the way. This system allows for customers to have up to date information on when delivery is going to take place.
Using the transaction processing system makes product transactions easier to monitor and track which makes it easier to place orders and monitor how inventory sales are going. They system is able to keep accurate accountability for each product as it is sold, create invoices for orders, and reordering product. Having this system in place is critical because without it there can be data errors from numerous areas. There could be accounting issues such as invoices being paid multiple times, invoices not paid at all, transactions not accounted for, or financial statements not calculated correctly due to missed information. The importance of monitoring all the transactions coming and going from each location plays a key role in maintaining not only accuracy in inventory but also accuracy with the general ledger.
Other aspects of product are economic- customer value, functional- service at the point of sales, before sales and after the sales and the psychological aspect of the product like image of the product. Kudler Fine Foods is a gourmet ingredients shop and offers in-store parties and now going in to catering business. It is managed by Kathy Kudler. So customers know that it is going to be gourmet food experience because she notices some of the people at the catering places are regular customers at her stores. KFF should research the market to find the needs of the customers.
Tracking purchase information from each store location as well as tracking each customer who applies for a frequent shopper membership will create a heavy use and traffic of the database system. User Interface The interfaces that will go through a complete overhaul include the computer system at each location, the integration of the barcode tracking system and the Kudler Fine Foods website. To join the frequent shoppers program, Kudler will need to collect some basic information will be collected from customer such as name, address, daytime and evening phone numbers, and an e-mail address that will be an optional form entry. Conclusion Smith consulting upon careful planning will design the frequent shoppers program Kudler Fine Foods desires. Smith consulting will ensure that all computer systems throughout all three locations are up-to-date with the hardware and software required to implement such a system.
