ADHD negatively can affect a child’s social and emotional behavior and the ability to control them in a positive manner in a school environment. Children that have both ADD/ADHD are expressively immature. Some studies show children who have ADHD, especially those children that have expressive outbursts or violent tendencies; they have a hard time socializing with others. In school, if their classmates and teacher single them out, they feel self-conscious. Many children with disabilities usually need more structured and clearly amorphous surroundings, also behaviorally, than a general education classroom can offer.
Cultural deprivation means when children are deprived from things what they need. This can include the lack of values and support they get from their parents, which can influence on socialisation skills. It can be argued that due to lack of family structure, social cultural and soft skills pupils are less likely to underachieve. Cultural deprivation is a theory that many working-class children are inadequately socialised and therefore lack the ‘right’ culture appropriate for a successful education. Many people argue that development is vital in the younger years in the child’s life, and the ability to solve problems and apply ideas help in the long-term.
Learning Disabilities, Communication Disorders & Giftedness Grand Canyon University: SPE 526 February 22, 2012 Abstract There are different types of disabilities and they affect people in different ways. Some are recognized as the child develops, others happen in the womb and some are inherited. This document will discuss the definition, characteristics and causes of learning disabilities, communication disorders and giftedness. Learning Disabilities Learning disabilities are different from a physical disability because it is not visible to the naked eye. Their fellow students don’t see them using a wheelchair or crutches but notice that they get very low grades.
Another problem that social media creates another way for people to bully or have access to emotionally abuse others. Bullying has become a debacle in the news for years on kids that are being abused emotionally and even in some cases physically as well. Bullying has a huge impact on schools and education. In many cases children who are victims of bullying have a lower self-esteem later in life, and are prone to missing more school because of excused and unexcused reasons. This results to kids have lower grades cause they are not there to get the full education and lower grades.
Children of separated couples may also perform worse at school and have poorer future employment prospects. Some children are less likely to have successful relationships themselves as adults. However, it is not inevitable that all children will suffer long term harm from the break up of a parent’s relationship. Reference: One plus One strengthening relationships www.oneplusone.org.uk New Sibling: Very young children will find this the most difficult to cope with, vying for parental attention for the first time. Some children may ‘play up’ in response to the stress of the life change.
Prejudice and bigotry are learned at a very young age mainly from parents, other children and other institutions outside of the home environment. In many cases when children are trying to understand why others are different to themselves they may take on board what others say about them even though it may wrong. This in turn gives children a misconception of what they are experiencing when they create their views and opinions. This then creates intolerance. Types of prejudice and discrimination include: • Racism • Sexism • Religious prejudice • Culture • Ageism • Ethnicity • Socioeconomic status • Disabilities – physical and mental 2.3 evaluate how own attitudes, values and behaviour could
Often children with disabilities or learning disabilities need extra support to achieve their potential. Another factor that could affect child with disabilities development is that sometimes they are subjected to prejudice or discrimination at school, therefore they get treated differently to the other children. A child or young person with either a sigh impairment or a hearing impairment is going to have a big impact on there development. A child with a hearing impairment is likely to feel isolated and feel that they can’t join in with activities or games. A child with sight impairment is unable to learn by watching and copying either peers or teachers.

Students who drop out often have many factors that influence their decision. Research shows that key factors for students who are at highest risk of dropping out are: poor grades in core classes, low or poor attendance, failure to be promoted to the next grade, disengagement in the classroom, and behavioral problems (Kennelly, 2007). Student boredom, lack of challenging material, and disengagement due to lack of academic rigor have also been identified as indicators of academic failure. In recent years; the legislation of No Child Left Behind Act has contributed to a situation in which educators are caught between a rock and a hard place. Knowing that students are a greater risk of dropping out when they perform poorly in school, yet increased rigor in the classroom as a strategy to decrease the dropout rate, as identified in the No Child Left Behind Act has created a “Catch-22” situation for educators (Bridgeland J. D., 2009).
This period is when one can either make it out to become a great adult in the future or become a total mess all together. This is as a result of the kind of groups that people tend to associate themselves with. Peer pressure is very common among the youth and therefore parents and guardians are required to guide their kids so as not to fall in the wrong group. However, there are children who are not lucky to have stable homes and therefore they get involved in antisocial activities that eventually lead to criminal acts. Some of the children end up being arrested and being sentenced to juvenile prisons.
