Facebook is a social network that is used worldwide by many different people. The usage of Facebook has spread throughout the whole world. Now a day, there have been many young people even adults that do not use Facebook just to socialize. In fact, they use it for the wrong purposes such as impersonation. Fake profiles have also been an issue and are made from time to time. I believe, from experience that impersonating someone on Facebook can cause a lot of problems in many ways. I think that this issue applies more to young adults because they are known to be less mature. They might make a fake profile just to maybe bully someone or cause problems with other young adults. Not only is impersonation on Facebook just identity theft, but should also be a crime. There are some ways you can find out if you are being impersonated. You can either have a friend or family member tell you that there is a fake profile of you with all your information. Or you can find out on your own if you maybe type in your name. In cases like this you would want to report this to the Facebook help site that Facebook provides you with to let them know you are being impersonated and usually they can take that page down. But if this continues you would have to take this into further actions and report to the policy center and they can track this person down. They’ve said that California has recently put a law on the books making impersonating someone on a social networking service a crime (punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and a jail sentence of up to a year). (Schlesinger, 2013) In reality Facebook does not care of what’s going on, they have 500,000,000 users, 1 or 2 fake users mean nothing to them, unless the fake users chase out too many of the good users.
