Expository Essay: Shoes

I once read in a magazine a great quantity can be told about a man depending on the shoes he has on his feet. I say, the same can be said for women. A women's shoe collection can range from all different colors, seasons, shapes, and sizes but they all serve one common purpose. To keep our feet protected from harm of course. In my short life, I have noticed four distinct categories. I like to separate them into the “I-swear-I-just-came-from-the-gym-shoes” which announces unto the world the one wearing them are leading a healthy and active lifestyle. The “She-grew-overnight-shoes” which Jedi-mind trick the perceived into believing the wearer sprouted overnight. There’s the casual “I-just-need-to-run-out-to-pick-up-some-milk shoes” that are easy to slip in and out of, and of course we cannot forget the “spontaneous” that women often buy, but never end up wearing. During my weekend mornings my mother and I always go out for brisk walks around the neighborhood. As we stroll about our way I cannot help but notice the other women going about their morning jogs. I always make an effort to glance down at their shoes, and I am utterly unfazed because one hundred percent of the time they have the “I-swear-I-just-came-from-the-gym-shoes” strapped onto their feet. These shoes appear to exude comfort, and come equipped with fancy cushion technology too. I mean, they’ve got to now-a-days, with all the strenuous tasks us women need to perform on a day to day basis: going for jogs, running on treadmills, walking the dogs. Now when I glance back up, it is as though the women are transformed into confident females; ready to pounce at any man in sight. But who knows, maybe I analyze too deeply into things, or it can quite possibly only be, the females within my surrounding community.
