Behaviour Depending on social conditioning and other factors, delegates joining a programme of learning bring with them an established behaviour pattern. This becomes a challenge in some instances, as views and opinions on what is correct behaviour differs greatly between people. Therefore there is a need to control behaviour to create an environment, which is conducive to learning. Learning Environment The environment must be conducive to learning, which means that the learner must be comfortable with the physical environment as well as the behaviour of the other learners and the programme leader. One of the ways which learners can feel comfortable is when they know what behaviour is expected from them and what behaviour can be expected from the programme leader.
Analyse different ways in which you would establish ground rules with learners, which underpin behavior and respect others. Ground rules are set of rules which are set to govern the interactions and expected behaviors of learners in order to promote an effective learning environment. The different ways to establish ground rule are:- • Tutor setting ground rules where learners are given a list of set rules which are not discussed but they are to be adhered to. This approach is restrictive and tutor runs the risk of having to constantly spend time reinforcing them. • Learners setting ground rules which are less restrictive, more inclusive and more likely to be successful as it allow learners to take ownership and they are more likely to keep them.
Establish ground rules with your learners which underpin Behaviour and respect for others The ways in which I would establish ground rules would be in my first lesson. The right setting of my group is relevant because I need to create a comfortable atmosphere for my learners. Having a sensible class room layout where the chairs are positioned around me, my learners can have a clear vision of what I am demonstrating. Ideally, my class would benefit from being situated in quieter surroundings, because background noise could cause distraction. Rules such as: mobile phones switched off, respecting each others confidentiality, good time keeping and most importantly being non judgmental, is my definition of good practice procedure for my learners.
Communication differences work the same as long as you’re understanding of the difference and can adapt, show respect and within the working environment, professional relationships go onto developed a well-rounded support network for each other. If ever in a conflict at work use skills and techniques learnt to resolve the issue. Sometimes the problem or conflict can’t be that easily resolved therefor it’s important to discuss the matter constructively so you can move on working together in a professional working environment. While working in schools there may be times that other adults you work with may seek sources of information from you. Depending on the information it might be more difficult for you to answer if you’re not certain of all the facts?
Effective communication combines a set of skills including non verbal communication, attentive listening, the ability to mange stress in the moment, the capacity to recognize, understand own emotion and those of the person you are communicating with. Effective communication is important because it allows people to build personal and professional relationships. We are more likely to communicate information to one another if we have positive relationships. You are likely to give beneficial support if communication is strong and effective with parents and other adults who come into the school, this in turn benefits pupils. It is also inportant that a Teaching Asistant checks what he/ she is saying in the moment of stress and excitement as the pupils are in our presence and will here.
Having knowledge of different ways to teach to get the most out of an individual whom perhaps needs a different way of learning to get the most out of the pupil and help them to progress in their education. They must understand ways to enable a purposeful learning environment and how to promote good behaviour. Have an understanding of pupils’ expectations in relation to their age and how to achieve those results. Also making sure that they have an understanding and respect of the pupils’ social, cultural, linguistic, religious and ethnic backgrounds. How to maintain and develop a good relationship with pupils and to demonstrate that they treat all pupils’ equally, through this they will gain respect and trust from that individual.
Unit one in this class first involved the class picking values we thought were important to make a caring learning environment. As we shared our reasons for picking the values on a discussion board, the class was involved in cooperative learning. In other words, we helped others evaluate their own values by providing input and suggestions. In this way, I believe this section in particular of Unit one and the discussion boards in general addressed our continuing professional development: TPE 13. Another aspect of Unit one was identifying and categorizing our intelligences.
Promoting Inclusion Equality And Diversity Within Learners Theory 3 As a tutor my aim is for the students to gain competence in and a full understanding of the subject. In order for students to do this it is important for the tutor to be mindful of the issues concerning equality, diversity and Inclusion. In terms of equality and diversity the relevant factors we must be sensitive to when teaching are disability, sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity and race, age, religious beliefs and economic and social needs of the students. The diverse backgrounds and experiences of individual students are what make teaching so exciting and challenging. The tutor needs to employ a number of strategies to promote inclusive learning to ensure that all the students are involved in the learning process.
They must differentiate the lessons with the goal of reaching each student's zone of proximal development. An outstanding educator will also demonstrate to the students that they care whether or not the student succeeds. Another important quality is the ability to find creative ways to present material so that the lessons hold their interest and they then view learning in a positive light. They must try to make learning interesting and even fun by methods such as the incorporation of games into the lessons like bingo or crossword puzzles. They must alternate activities to ensure that the student's attention does not wander keeping the students as engaged as possible in the lesson.
The cycle of present/demonstrate, reflect/discuss, practice, recap/develop also seems to fit well with Kolb’s “learning cycle” (teaching today Geoff petty 1998). It is also important that the teaching suits the motivation of the learner who takes the course for different motives. One important aspect of this is to insure that the learner’s needs are met so they are able to achieve Mazlows state of “ self actualization ” (Maslow, A H,
