Affecting Change Paper Jenea M. Smith LDR 531 March 21, 2011 John Thompson Affecting Change Paper Leadership can be defined as the ability to encourage and persuade others to work towards achieving a goal. Leaders are individuals who are concerned with doing the right thing, and managers are individuals who are concerned with doing things right. Leaders of companies and organizations are often faced with challenges of motivating employees to adjust to cultural changes and organizational structural. To collaborate means individuals respect the viewpoint of others and allow the team to learn and grow. I believe teams that understand the benefits of collaboration are more stable and effective. The disadvantage of collaboration is the energy, time, and the skill that goes into collaborating. My second choice would be accommodation. In the beginning stages of forming a team, individuals who come together usually begin feeling each other out.
Continuing training and coaching as collaborations work can provide encouragement during the process. Also, allotting time for the teams to meet outside of the direct patient care will allow members to help set agendas and evaluate progress and address issues. Providing incentives and recognition to effective collaborations also play roles in building successful teams (Taplin, Foster, & Shortell 2013). The organization can also aid in developing efficient workflows and set clear team rules. Also, it is important for team members to be involved in decisions that affect their team.

The skills and qualities a potential candidate possesses, has an effect on their capability of gaining and maintaining employment. A CV is a document in which a jobseeker uses to advertise their skills and qualities which may appeal to a potential employer. In addition to skills and qualities employers take into consideration a person appearance and image.
I think the reason this equation Performance = Motivation x Ability is used mostly in management is because these are factors that can be manipulated by leaders. They can hire the people with the right abilities for the specific job they need and also improve ability with training. There are also several ways, which we have learned in this chapter, that managers can apply to motivate their employees. Some argue, which I agree with, that you can create your own opportunities. This is somewhat true as well.
So that, those skills will allow the speaker or client to decide what to do next rather than have someone else to make decisions for them (introjection of values). On the other hand, all of those skills experiences will also allow the speaker or the client to be modified by experiencing, exploring and reflecting into they own intimate concerns without external locus of evaluation. The process can allow both parties to be involved in many sets of experiences such as developmental issues, critical decision-making, painful confrontation of self-defeating patters of feelings, thoughts and behaviour and acknowledgement of painful life events.
