Pet Peeve Speech In school the idea that we all learn differently and in our own ways is stressed to us from kindergarten right up to your senior year. I don't disagree with that at all, in fact I feel deeply that we all do in fact learn in ways unique to us. The teachers and staff here at Iron Mountain High School do a fantastic job of catering to the needs of individuals who have troubles grasping concepts or just can't seem to understand something the first time it's explained to them. Once again I'm fine with that, but not everyone needs that much help. Not everyone wants that much help!
I hated to do this so as I said before, this teaches that lesson of what’s right and wrong, therefor learning civility. As I got grew up I learned something every year. In first grade I learned that when older people help younger kids out for a whole school year you can really learn a lot. We had 8th grade buddies that were there every morning waiting for us in our classroom to talk to us before the school day started. Our teachers were very old and wise so they knew that this wouldn’t just be a learning experience for the 8th graders but also the 1st.
He said because he was a teacher he was able to hang out with his wife and kids more than he would if he was in another job. I have really enjoyed my time as an exploratory teacher and very grateful I had the opportunity. It has given me the chance to see what being a teacher is like from an outside perspective. I have witnessed teachers my whole life as a student but this was the first time that I really got to see what goes in everyday to being a teacher. I have learned that it’s not as easy as it looks and I also have learned that being a teacher is not always fun and games.
This time, it was asking about a class we were both taking in school. After he smoothly got me to text him we began talking daily. I started seeing a more mature, changed side to Corwin and I found out that my initial impression of him was completely wrong. He turned out to be a truly amazing person that I never gave him enough credit to think he could be. The more I got to know the real Corwin Weik, the more I realized that he built up walls and portrayed a certain person because that’s what he was used to, just like me.
I had lot of support making sure that I was not facing the difficulties or challenges alone. I had the chance of meeting the most wonderful young lady in my school, she have been the most supportive woman I could have ever meet in high school. She was there with me every single step of high school and getting all my school information organized the way they are supposed to be. With Ms. Francis help I learned a lot of skills that I never know I could have mastered in school at all. I am a person who love being in school that’s where my family lies, school have a lot of different people but the god ones are hard to fine.
I remember a quote by Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” (Wouldn’t Take Nothing for My Journey Now, 12). Dr. Naeger, I believe, touched many lives during his vast career. The slippers, I think, were what people noticed first and remembered about him. As his students grew to know him more, he was kind, patient, and caring. Dr. Naeger would have been the type of person to truly care about his students and help them however he could.
His family really believed that a man needed a secure education to lean back on. So Martin Luther King Jr, attended a isolated school and was devoted to learning. He did really well and actually skipped the grades of both ninth and twelfth grade and later on he started college at Morehouse at the age of 15. He then graduated in 1948. Through all of his education he learned the significance of public speaking and reaching out to others.
Ever since I was in kindergarten, the words that were on the page that I was either reading or writing did not mean anything but a good grade. Even though Jarred betrayed me many times in the past, I should learn to forgive and move on with my life. Forgiveness is something I have always had trouble with, but now I was shown another path. All it really takes is for one teacher, just one, to give you the extra push that you need to succeed academically. For me it was my high school history teacher Mr. Zigler. From my freshman to senior year of high school, Mr. Zigler would tutor me in all subjects to help me succeed and to help me get into advanced placement classes as well. Not only that, but I trusted him with everything, it was like he was my personal therapist in school, being that I didn’t have that at home. It was with his help that
Mr. McLinn instills in all of his students the concept of hope. Mr. McLinn seemed to be very sincere in his care and compassion for the students. He understands that majority of the students that attend Duke are terribly overwhelmed with family problems, that is why his first step in helping the youngsters is to build their self-esteem. When entering the office students and visitors are greeted with a sticker on the wall that reads “I like your smile.” Mr. McLinn shared with my colleagues and I that at his school an accomplishment is a smile, not a test score.
